During your last senior semester, you may feel your youth slipping away. Adulthood is lurking around the corner, but it seems like, just yesterday, you were pushing your parent out of your freshman dorm. Leaving Florida State is similar to heartbreak. You know it’s for the better, but nothing will ever compare. Swapping Y-bombs and tailgates for wine and taxes is a necessary sacrifice. But before you’re a real adult, make the most out of your last semester as a Florida State Seminole. Here are 10 things to do before you leave FSU.
Pull an all-nighter at Strozier
The infamous Stroz all-nighter seems like it shouldn’t make the list, but for nostalgia’s sake, it is. Soon you will be spending time working in a professional environment. Make the most of your time left as a Nole with a first-floor Stroz night. Go with friends and spend hours on one assignment because you can’t stop talking. Buy the overpriced Starbucks coffee and have one final crammed study session. Give Strozier a proper goodbye; it deserves it.
Go to all the basketball games
College sports are arguably one of the best things about a school like Florida State. Use up all the student tickets you can during your last semester. Soon enough, you will have to pay for a seat inside the Civic Center. Grab your friends and spend your last spring semester cheering on the basketball team.
Hang out in the student union
2023 graduates, you have spent nearly all your time at Florida State waiting for the student union to open. You only get one year with it, so make the most out of it. Go bowling, grab lunch, study or even grab a drink after class.
Complete a Madso Challenge
You probably have already completed a few challenges at Madison Social by now. But it’s your last semester, so if you have the money, commit to every challenge from here to May. The Madso monthly challenges are a Tallahassee staple. Don’t leave college without endless Madso T-shirts.
Spend an afternoon on Landis
Spring semester at Florida State is the best time to lounge on Landis Green. It’s an iconic spot perfect for a picnic, reading or studying. Get a blanket or a hammock and relax on Landis. Enjoy campus as often as possible before May.
Win trivia night at Madso
Every Tuesday is trivia night at Madison Social. From Harry Potter to Harry Styles, there is a topic for everyone. Round up your best fangirls and dominate trivia night as often as possible.
Eat at Sweet Shop
Sweet Shop is a Florida State staple. You may not frequent it as often anymore, but it is time to make at least one more trip. Get a bagel and a coffee before studying at a booth. Most importantly, write your name on the wall among the many. Leave your mark on Sweet Shop and FSU.
Spend the day at Railroad Square
Railroad Square is a Tallahassee gem that should be enjoyed often before you go. You can spend a few hours thrifting before getting some lunch. The art district is underappreciated, so spend time discovering all the local businesses you won’t have access to come summer.
Have a senior bar crawl
The senior bar crawl is an important milestone for any FSU graduate. It’s the time to say goodbye to your favorite bars and go back in time to freshman year. Pick a theme and grab a group of your favorite people. You can start the night at Township, eventually make your way to The Strip and after a few more stops, you can end the night at Palace. Live up your senior bar crawl; it is one of the last times you will be out as a college student.
Take one last swim in Wescott
Wescott Fountain is arguably the most iconic spot on campus. You most likely haven’t been in since your 21st birthday, but that needs to change before you graduate. The night of your bar crawl or the night before graduation would be perfect for one last swim. Take pictures and bring your senior friends. A swim in Wescott is the ideal way to end your time at FSU.
Graduating is scary. There is no avoiding real life; this last semester, time will seem to move faster. Making the most out of your final months as a college student is not something you will ever regret. Follow this list or create your own; either way, don’t leave Florida State without giving it a proper goodbye.
