Name: Geminis Garcia
Major: Psychology (Pre-Nursing)
Year: Senior
Hometown: Miami, FL
Relationship Status: Single
Her Campus (HC): What is your involvement on campus?
Geminis Garcia (GG): I have been involved in the Hispanic Latino Student Union, apart of the Southern Scholarship Foundation, FSU Union Board, Alternative Break Corps, FSU Beyond Border, and I am a sister of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Incorporated.
HC: What has been one of your biggest achievements so far?
GG: One of my biggest achievements was when I was able to participate in medical outreach clinics in Lima, Peru. This trip gave me a better understanding of cultural differences and how those effect interpersonal communication. This trip helped me narrow down what field I wanted to take within Nursing, which is helping those in poverty stricken communities to help aid others in living healthy lives.
HC: What was your most significant experience at Florida State University?
GG: To me, that moment will be on May 1st. The day I walk across the stage on graduation day.
HC: Graduation is in a few weeks! Are you excited? How do you feel? What are you looking forward to after you graduate?
GG: I am extremely excited to graduate. It has been something I have been looking forward to since I was a little girl. I am ready to move on to the next level in my life. I am excited to go on to work on my Nursing degree and work with the US Army.
HC: What’s the most important lesson that being in college has taught you?
GG: The most amazing part is that the college life allows us to define our selves. We choose our ideologies and perceptions about life. We experience the freedom to develop and define our own unique existence. Everyday I learn something new about myself. The best thing I am finding about myself is the love I have to lend a helping hand when others need it.
HC: What’s your favorite go to place in Tallahassee?
GG: My favorite place is definitely Lake Ella. I love the scenery. It’s a great place to go running or enjoy a delicious snow cone. It’s a perfect place to go relax and enjoy your day.
HC: What keeps you motivated day in and day out?
GG: My family keeps motivated. I cannot spend a day without talking to my parents and hearing how they are. My aunts and uncles never forget to check up on me and ensure that I am well. I also have my little brother who is constantly challenging me to the best I can be.
HC: Describe the perfect man. (We all know they don’t exist but if he did…)
GG: In today’s world it’s so difficult to find the guy that has all the qualities that would make him perfect boyfriend material. Intelligence is one of the sexiest things a man can have and the first thing I look for. I want someone that will be a gentleman. I want a type of guy that will hold the door for me, surprise me at work with flowers, and treat me with respect. I would like a man who adores me for who I am.
HC: If you could trade places with anyone in the world who would it be and why?
GG: I would love to trade places with Sanya Richards Ross. She is an amazing Olympic runner and role model to many young women. I would love to be able to have the stamina and perseverance she has when competing and obviously to just take part in being in the Olympics.
HC: What is one thing about you that most people don’t know?
GG: I mostly grew up in Nicaragua. I love going back though because I am able to get out of the country and ride horses.
HC: What do you do to relax and unwind after a long day?
GG: I love to go running. I enjoy waking up at 5 am and going out to run. It’s such a therapeutically thing for myself to be able to just focus on just pacing and my breathing. I love it because the only competition I have is myself.
HC: What is the one thing you will miss the most once you leave FSU?
GG: I will definitely miss all the beautiful friends I have met. FSU holds a special place in my heart and it always will.
