FSU Campus Cats as Five Nights at Freddy’s Characters

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

If you’re new to Florida State University, then you may not have noticed the cute little critters exploring FSU’s campus. Here on our beautiful campus, we have over 20 cats, each of them with their own unique personalities and quirks. With the recent popularity of Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF), I thought it would be a fun twist to compare our adorable campus cats with the spooky characters of FNAF. I have acquired the help of my amazing roommate (and fellow FSUscampuscats admin), Erin Tilly, to assist me with my FNAF lore and campus cat classifications.

Ragnar as Freddy

Ragnar is one of the main cats that is mostly seen around the Psychology buildings. He is a brown and black tabby with a very girly meow that will have you swooning at his adorableness. Because Ragnar forces you to pay attention to him and treat him as the main character, I have decided he most closely represents the animatronic Freddy. Freddy is arguably the most known animatronic of them all, and the same could be said about Ragnar. They are also both just goofy guys.

Pebbles as Bonny

Pebbles is another popular cat mostly seen around the Psychology buildings. Pebbles is one of the few female cats on campus. Her rare, grey coat leaves many in awe. However, she is known to switch from sweet to angry within a second because as soon as she’s done with your pets, she will let you know with a quick slap to the hand. This is why I have expertly decided that Pebbles most accurately represents our cute (and arguably most violent) animatronic, Bonny. Bonny is the sweet, purple bunny that can turn on you in an instant.

Cheddar as Chica

Cheddar is a recent addition to our campus. He turned up around last year and since then has been a constant sight around campus. Recently, he’s changed his main hangout from the Kasha Building to behind the Medical School. Cheddar is a loud presence and demands attention from all those around him, including people and his fellow cats. Because of his notable scream, I have decided that our lovely animatronic Chica is the best match. Chica is known for her loud screech as she jumpscares you in the games. In my opinion, it’s the perfect match (no one mention the fact that Chica is a girl and Cheddar is a boy).

Bing as Golden Freddy

Bing is the old, grouchy, feral cat on campus (and I won’t lie to you, he is my favorite). He showed up about two years ago out of the blue around Salley Hall and has stuck around that area since then. Although I may be a bit biased, I have designated Bing to match our famous Golden Freddy. Both have been through a lot, yet they continue to be a powerful and known presence.

Tofu as Funtime Foxy

Now onto my favorite FNAF character and his match. First up, my ultimate favorite is Funtime Foxy. With Funtime Foxy being my favorite animatronic, I had to make sure I matched him with a worthy campus cat. I could not think of a better match than our beloved Tofu. Tofu is our all-white angel who hangs out around Woodward Parking Garage. She, along with Pebble, are the very few female cats on campus. Tofu will usually accept pets from most people, but will quickly run away when she’s done. The reason why I have decided to match her with Funtime Foxy is because Funtime Foxy and Tofu are both iconic. While Tofu’s pictures get spread all around the FSU Campus Cats Instagram, Funtime Foxy’s quotes go viral on TikTok.

Fritz as Balloon Boy

Fritz is our spotted black and white cat on campus. He is quite the traveler who doesn’t have a consistent hangout spot and instead pops up wherever he wants. Fritz can only be described with two words: goofy and fun. Do you know who else can be described with those same two words? Balloon Boy. Balloon Boy is from the second FNAF game, but he did have a special appearance in the new FNAF movie, providing hilarious jumpscares.

This is my carefully curated list of FNAF characters and their matching campus cat personas. All of these cats and more are located on Instagram at @fsuscampuscats. Feel free to direct message the account and give your own matchings!
