Clutch Magazine Release Party: Reinvent Your Friday Night

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Do you ever have the feeling that Tallahassee is too much of a small town for you and you just need a little something more? Maybe your dream city is LA? Or maybe it’s NY? If that’s the case, then the Clutch Magazine release party is the perfect chance for you to see how big city life would feel. The Clutch release party will have the glam and glitz of a NY Hearst Magazines release party combined with the style of your local Tallahassee natives, many of whom have interned in places like LA an NY — hello, networking! While conveniently taking place at Recess, one of the most talked about bars in Tallahassee, this party will leave behind your usual Friday night plans. So get glammed up, invite your best friends, and get ready to strut down the streets of College Town like the true Carrie Bradshaws (or Blair Waldorfs) you all are!

The release party is for Clutch Magazine’s 17th issue. It’s taking place this upcoming Friday, November 14th, at Recess from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., but everyone is more than welcome to stay once the party’s over to enjoy everything Recess has to offer for its Friday night festivities.

Clutch Magazine is FSU’s first student-run magazine. Originally called Fashion Focus, it has since then evolved into the prestigious Clutch Magazine. The cover resembles everyone’s favorite fashion piece, a clutch bag, and each issue is always tweaked to fit the style of the magazine. We got a sneak peek at the cover for this semester’s magazine, and it perfectly matched their sleek and clean woman dominance theme they’ve had for the whole magazine!

Aside from having flawless fashion sense with their design and styling for both women’s and men’s editorials, Clutch also features articles on topics ranging from dos and don’ts,  to the top three ways to style yourself, and advice from alumni! While the magazine has managed to stay on the cutting-edge side of fashion, and given Recess’ reputation as a hot spot in Tallahassee, where some of the best local DJs play regularly, Clutch Magazine also has great taste in music; you can check it out by listening to Clutch’s club Spotify playlist here.

So let’s go over the basics one more time: the Clutch event is taking place on Friday, November 14th, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Recess in College Town. Besides having a great time and looking fabulous, you’ll also get to leave with “swag bags,” and have a chance to be the winner of their raffle!  The raffle includes prizes from some of the best local boutiques, where they do a lot of their pulling’s for the magazine, so if you see a piece you like in the editorials and are the winner of the raffle, you might just get a chance to win that piece or something similar!

If you want to attend the event and your friends are against it, don’t worry! Everyone on the Clutch team is friendly, and they will also be giving out information on joining the team next semester! They accept people from all majors and have positions available for advertising, styling, PR, photography, et cetera. So make your way to Recess this Friday night and meet the Editor and Chief of Clutch Magazine, and get ready to begin your adventure with FSU’s first fashion magazine!
