They’ve got electric chemistry, steamy scenes, and fans everywhere wondering if what’s happening on screen might also be happening in real life. Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, stars of the romantic comedy Anyone But You, have stirred up major buzz — but are they actually together, or are they just really close friends?

The On-Screen Heat

When Anyone But You dropped, audiences couldn’t stop talking about the undeniable connection between Glen and Sydney. The flirty banter, lingering glances, and natural ease between the two actors led many to believe their chemistry couldn’t possibly be acting alone. And let’s be real, sometimes it does spill over, but Sydney Sweeney was in a long-term relationship and engaged to Jonathan Davino, which killed any real-life possibility that the rumors were true.

Nevertheless, promotional interviews only added fuel to the fire. Between inside jokes, playful touches, and more-than-friendly gazes, fans began to wonder: Is this just a killer PR strategy, or is something actually going on?

The Rumor Mill Kicks In

Rumors about the pair began swirling as early as the first teaser for the film. Behind-the-scenes clips and red-carpet appearances showed a level of comfort that sparked speculation. TikTok edits and Twitter theories ran wild. Everyone had a theory, and everyone wanted it to be true.

However, things got a little messy when it came to real-life relationships. At the time of filming, Sydney was engaged to longtime boyfriend Jonathan Davino. Meanwhile, Glen had reportedly split from model Gigi Paris, a breakup that some fans speculated might have had something to do with his cozy moments with Sydney.

What Have They Said?

Despite the buzz, both actors have played it cool. In interviews, they’ve praised each other’s professionalism and talent but haven’t confirmed anything romantic. Glen told the press that Sydney was “hilarious” and “easy to work with,” while Sydney has called Glen “a total goofball” and “super sweet.” All very cute but very noncommittal.

While their social media posts together are flirty and fun, they mostly center around promoting the movie. It’s the kind of gray area that makes fans go crazy trying to read between the lines.

Real or PR Romance?

Let’s face it: Hollywood knows how to sell a love story, and nothing gets people to watch a rom-com quite like whispers of a real-life romance behind it. It wouldn’t be the first time co-stars leaned into the speculation to boost interest. (Looking at you, Bradley and Gaga.)

So, is this another case of expertly curated chemistry? Or did Anyone But You bring about something more than just a box office hit?

The Latest Clues

Things have definitely taken a twist. Sydney reportedly called off her May 2025 wedding and ended her engagement to longtime fiancé Jonathan Davino, and soon after, she was spotted alongside Glen Powell at multiple events, including his sister’s wedding, which raised some eyebrows. The sightings didn’t stop there, but just when fans thought this was confirmation of something more, Sydney was seen out again with her ex-fiancé just days later, keeping everyone guessing.

At the 2025 Hollywood Beauty Awards, she was asked directly about the Glen rumors, and her reaction only stirred the pot more. According to a source, Sydney “laughed and played super coy,” even giving “a flirty wink.” She didn’t confirm anything outright and “wouldn’t say it one way or another,” but when pressed, she simply said she was “having a lot of fun.”

Final Thoughts

Until Glen and Sydney give us a straight answer (if they ever do), we’ll just have to keep decoding their every move. Are they just friends? Secret lovers? The best PR team in Hollywood? Whatever the truth is, one thing’s for sure: they’ve got us all watching and maybe even believing in love stories again.
