Empowering Your Journey: The Best Quotes for Finding Your Purpose and Passion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

As I write my final article for Her Campus, I wanted to share some words of wisdom as I prepare to say goodbye to my alma mater, Florida State University. These past four years at FSU, along with my time writing for Her Campus, have been filled with inspiration from historical figures, professors, students, and members of the community. As I was faced with transitioning into adulthood, I experienced moments where I felt at a loss for words but found comfort in those of great minds who offered advice that helped guide me toward finding my purpose.

If you’re feeling lost or uncertain about your path in life, know that books, speeches, and quotes are always available to provide comfort and guidance. As I transition into another stage of my life, I’m once again speechless, but find peace in hearing great minds before me speaking to me, reminding me of what’s most important and what should fuel me. Without words, we might all feel a little more lost and alone in the world, but thankfully, we have them to turn to whenever we need them.

Here are some quotes that have helped me find purpose and passion throughout my life.

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

-Winston Churchill

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

-Eleanor Roosevelt

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

-Martin Luther King Jr.

“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed.”

-Michael Jordan

“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

-Abraham Lincoln

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So sail away from the safe harbour. Explore, Dream, Discover.”

-Mark Twain

“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”

-Steve Jobs

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”

-Socrates

“If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.”

-Malcolm X

“In three words, I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.”

-Robert Frost

“I’ve come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a fingerprint – and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.”

-Oprah Winfrey

“No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.”

-Robin Williams

These past four years have been an unforgettable journey, one filled with ups and downs, laughter and tears, and moments of self-discovery. Through it all, I have learned that the most valuable tool we have in life is not our possessions or our achievements, but rather the power of words. From the wisdom of great minds to the kind words of friends and loved ones, words have the power to inspire, comfort, and guide us through life’s toughest moments. As I prepare to embark on a new chapter in my life, I am grateful for the words that have brought me to this point and hopeful for the ones that will guide me forward. Though I may be leaving Her Campus and Florida State behind, I will always carry the lessons I’ve learned and the words that have shaped me.

I am a senior at Florida State University majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in Public Administration. A fun fact about me is I was born on Valentine's Day. I find happiness through small things like reading, listening to podcasts, and nature!
