From Fearless to the Eras: Best and Worst Outfits From Every Taylor Swift Tour

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Being a die-hard Swiftie since day one, I’ve wanted to attend every Taylor Swift concert that existed, dating all the way back to Fearless. However, even when I couldn’t attend every tour, I kept tabs on anything and everything related to it. My favorite part especially was seeing all the different costumes and changes she had for each tour. After going back and thoroughly reviewing, here are the best and the worst costumes from each of Taylor Swift’s tours.

The Fearless Tour

Best:

Swift’s best outfit for the Fearless tour is this iconic silver one. Although the budget she had at the time was considerably less than what she would be given now, I think that this still holds up pretty well by today’s standards. We can see Taylor’s love for glitter and sparkle start showing with this dress, and I think everything from the curly hair to the black boots makes this look so memorable.

Worst:

Nothing about this dress is necessarily wrong, but I think it is incredibly forgettable. The shape of the neckline and fit of the dress is not flattering and the only interesting aspect of it is the sparkles. This may be cute for a one-off performance, but it definitely isn’t for an entire tour.

The Speak Now Tour

Best:

Everything about this look screams enchanting. The dress on its own is stunning with all the small gold details and it pairs beautifully with the bold red lip she is wearing. Not only that, but the curls go super well with this look and add to the princess aesthetic going on here.

Worst:

It pains me to even choose the “worst” dress for this tour. Every look is pretty but if I had to choose, it would be this one because there is nothing particularly special about it. Although it is a pretty, black dress, there are just so many better options.

The Red Tour

Best:

One thing about me is I love a costume that thematically fits the song. “The Lucky One” gives off very old Hollywood fame and style which is exactly what this dress looks like. The hair, the gloves, the gown, everything. I also love the little bow in the middle. Overall, an elegant look.

Worst:

This look confuses me to my very core. I do not think there is one single clothing choice I would have picked here. The worst part about it is the red pants with the ankles showing. I definitely would not have wanted to see this outfit in concert.

The 1989 Tour

Best:

This is a bold choice for my favorite, but one I proudly stand by. The matching set is adorable and the lights on top completely match the fun and brightness of the song. Taylor rarely wears any pink which makes this a refreshing deviation from the norm.

Worst:

This outfit was not seen on tour many times and I think for good reason. Something about wearing plain legging-like pants on one of her most extravagant tours just rubs me the wrong way. While the top is more interesting, this is just one of the most boring outfits I have seen from all of her tours.

The Reputation Tour

Best:

Not only is the red body suit underneath beautiful and compliments her well, but I also love the jacket. I like the forestry green with sparkles and Reputation patches, and I think it perfectly sums up the vibes of the album. I do not think this outfit gets talked about enough.

Worst:

This is also another confusing look from her. Fans named this dress the “Tide Pod Dress” and that is definitely not a compliment in my eyes. None of the colors go together and that really is the biggest issue here. It is just not pleasing to the eyes.

The Eras Tour

Best:

I had to think long and hard about this decision. I honestly think I will never truly decide but from the moment I laid my eyes on this outfit I have never been the same. Something about this color on her makes her look absolutely breathtaking and the body suit is mesmerizing. The details are so intricate and probably even more insane up close. Plus, the garter is everything. Definitely an all-time favorite.

Worst:

With the amount of effort that went into the other eras’ outfits, I think Red got the short end of the straw. I find this uninteresting to look at, but I can appreciate that it is certainly on brand for the album. In the end, there is nothing truly bad about this outfit, but they could have definitely done more.

I am sure that I ruffled a few feathers with my opinions but at the end of the day, Taylor Swift can truly do no wrong.
