It’s that time of year when we’re all living in Strozier. I know that I am a huge procrastinator and one of the biggest excuses I make to not get anything done when I sit down is that I have to take the first hour to curate a perfect study playlist. To stop myself from doing this, I’ve compiled a few different study playlists based on some vibes and I thought I’d share them with all of you.
fun songs
When studying, I like to listen to a variety of upbeat music to keep me awake. Lorde, Selena and Doja Cat all have really different styles so the changes keep me alert. I know at first this playlist looks like it shouldn’t work, but it does.
- “Woman”– Doja Cat
- “Paris In the Rain”- Lauv
- “The Louvre”- Lorde
- “Mona Lisa”- Valntn, Peter Fenn & Tray Haggerty
- “Sweetest Pie”- Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion
- “Cupid’s Chokehold”- Gym Class Heroes
- “Harleys in Hawaii”- Katy Perry
- “Como La Flor”- Selena
- “RUNITUP”- Tyler, The Creator
- “Sunflower”- Swae Lee, Post Malone
- “Put Your Records On”- Ritt Momney
- “First Class”- Jack Harlow
- “34+35” – Ariana Grande
- “Shine”- Doja Cat
- “La Tortura”- Shakira
- “Clumsy”- Fergie
Show-tunes (for my theatre girlies)
I know, but sometimes when studying, I need to let my seventh grade theater kid come out. Show-tunes can be surprisingly helpful to study to, so if you’ve never tried it, give it a shot with one of these songs. My personal favorite is “Non-Stop” from Hamilton because while the chorus is singing “how does he write like he’s running out of time?” you can pretend they’re talking about you. You will write your paper faster, I promise.
- “The Other Side”– The Greatest Showman
- “Cell Block Tango”- Chicago
- “Non-Stop”- Hamilton
- “Meant to Be Yours”- Heathers
- “Don’t Lose Your Head”- Six
- “Seasons of Love”- Rent
- “30/90”- tick, tick… BOOM!
- “Chip On My Shoulder” -Legally Blonde
Cottage Core
If you ever need to close your eyes in the middles of Strozier and pretend you’re in a cabin in the woods, these are the songs for you.
- “Like Real People Do”– Hozier
- “Invisible String”- Taylor Swift
- “Queen Bee”- Johnny Flynn
- “Ophelia”- The Lumineers
- “From Eden”- Hozier
- “Ivy”- Taylor Swift
- “Soldier, Poet, King”- The Oh Hellos
- “Someone New”- Hozier
- “Cleopatra”- The Lumineers
Cry Break
This one is a little bit of a joke and a little bit not. Sometimes finals week can get pretty overwhelming. Crying can make you feel better sometimes so if you need to take a quick break from studying to cry it out, these are the songs for you.
- “Cellophane”– FKA Twigs
- “Champagne Problems”- Taylor Swift
- “Liability”- Lorde
- “Favorite Crime”- Olivia Rodrigo
- “Someone Like You”-Adele
- “If the World Was Ending”- JP Saxe, Julia Michaels
party
This is for the party you throw in your room after finishing your finals. I know I love to celebrate finishing a big test with a “Mr. Worldwide” song. Summer is almost here! I included one of my favorite summer songs “Stars Are Blind” by THE Paris Hilton. Something about this song just makes me feel like I’m already driving to the beach, even from the Strozier Starbucks line.
- “Hotel Room Service”– Pitbull
- “Get Into It”- Doja Cat
- “Danza Kuduro”- Don Omar
- “Go To Town”- Doja Cat
- “Industry Baby”- Lil Nas X
- “Tempo”- Lizzo, Missy Elliot
- “Tuned in Freestyle”- Megan Thee Stallion
- “Stars Are Blind”- Paris Hilton
Have a great finals week you guys! Remember that as long as you put the work in, you can do anything and once you’re done with tests, you’re free for SUMMER!
