It’s finally here, my last week at FSU. I never thought I would miss going to school so much. Three years ago I transferred to Florida State University and became the first member of my family to attend a university. I remember how nervous I was being so far away from my friends and family for the first time. I remember walking into my first class feeling so nervous and thinking I was going to spend my years at FSU all alone. Well, I was completely wrong and had the best time I could have imagined. Before I graduate, I wanted to express my love for FSU. Dear FSU, I want to thank you for the experiences I have had these past years. I met people who share the same passion as me, but have different dreams. They inspired and challenged me to be the best version of myself. My classmates were great and we were all willing to help each other during exam week. I will never forget the memories of studying in Strozier or Dirac all night before my exam. I’ll remember all the study groups I had there and all the sugar I consumed from each Starbucks Frappuccino I ordered. I had my first Gumby’s Stoner’s pie on the first-floor in Strozier and it haunts my tastebuds to this day. I loved the cozy study areas in the library I could use to get out of my apartment or take a two-hour power nap between classes.

Thank you for all the events on campus where I could get free stuff. I’ll never forget the little carnival you had on Landis during welcome week. I made some friends and got to see what you had to offer. I had fun at all the Her Campus events, especially when we got free popsicles and joy shaving cream. I loved all the movies I watched in the SLC, sitting next to my friends while we watched Your Name and laughing at when they got scared while watching Parasite. I loved going to Paint-A-Pot a pot in my spare time and maybe spending too much money there, but I’m ok with that. I loved going to FreeCon and the game nights, even if I would lose most of the time. I’ll never forget all the time I spent at the Leach. Stepping through those doors for the first time, I was amazed at how big the gym was. I have never seen so much equipment in my life and the classes were fun too. I took the beginners yoga class and finally understood why people enjoyed yoga. I never realized how much it helps with stress and how peaceful it made me feel. Now I am a fan of yoga, which I never would have seen happening. One of the biggest events at FSU is Homecoming and every year it is amazing. Having Pete Davidson make me cry of laughter and getting an autograph from Lil’ Yatchy are memories I’ll never forget.

Lastly, I can’t skip over the iconic athletics department. Whether if I was in the stands or behind the camera, I loved FSU sporting events. I made sure to attend one home game for each sport if I had the time. The school spirit was intense no matter what game I went to. My favorite sports to watch were football and volleyball. I’ll never forget my frustration when we lost and the pride I felt when we won. I remember the first time I made it on the jumbotron and ducking out of the way cause I was looking rough that day.

Even though parting is such sweet sorrow, I’ll never forget all the memories I’ve made here. The moment I move my tassel to the right side a new chapter of my life will begin while one will end. I am sad it’s ending, but now I have unforgettable friends and memories. Even though my journey ended differently and more virtually than I expected, I am grateful. Thank you FSU and if I had the chance to do my time here over, I wouldn’t change a thing. Now I am an alumnus, but I’ll always be a Nole.
