With the absence of the 2020 Met Gala, fashion critiques and red-carpet lovers alike have been highly anticipating the 2021 Grammys. The 2021 Grammys provided the unique opportunity for celebrities to safely interact, receive recognition for their work and show off their own musical personality through their choice of clothing for the evening. It’s not so simple as putting on a pretty, designer dress. Each celebrities’ choice of designer and outfit reflected the authentic personality they choose to channel within their music.

No better way to start off the night showing off his style than a jazzy rendition of “Watermelon Sugar” by now Grammy winner Harry Styles, in none other than Gucci. Styles has developed into quite the fashion icon within the last year, being the first individual male to cover Vogue in December. However, the undeniable “Fine Line” sweetheart traded in his usual pearl necklace for a bright green boa and his flowy ensembles for a bare-chested leather look. With the rock-heavy, leaked clips of Harry’s unreleased song “Medicine” resurfaced on the internet, and fans contemplated the possibility of a new potentially rock ‘n roll era for the singer. Never devoid of fun and light of course, as demonstrated by the neon green feathery boa Styles sported for the red carpet.

Speaking of significant Grammy award winners of the night, Beyonce stunned in a similarly leather-inspired Schiaparelli dress. The tight yet simple outfit was paired with statement earrings, enough to show that Queen B was not going for an attention-grabbing look because her award history could do that work for her. Needless to say, the gold accents in her earrings and the tips of her gloved dress complimented well with four Grammys from the night, making her the record-holder for female artists with the most Grammys at an astounding 28 awards.

Another celebrity that is necessary to mention is the renowned album of the year recipient, Taylor Swift. Taylor has had an awe-inspiring past year: releasing two new albums within six months, only to announce the rerelease of her former accolades under her own name. The album folklore has been described as a reset for Taylor’s musical career—an album made undeniably for Taylor herself and her true fans, filled with beautiful songwriting rather than intended hits. In this authenticity that Taylor poured into the quarantine-made album, Taylor earned her third Album of the Year Grammy win. The album is filled with folk-song-type songs with romanticized lyrics, which was demonstrated beautifully by her flower-filled Oscar de la Renta dress and blush pink Christian Louboutin shoes.

However, Harry, Beyonce and Taylor were not the only stars that showed in personality magnifying style. Lizzo showed in a shimmering mint Bailman dress, paired with layers of glittering BVLGARI Serpenti jewelry. A shining fit for a woman whose music exudes joy and confidence. Billie Eilish stuck to her unquestionable cool-girl style with a loose Gucci patterned fit, complete with a matching mask and bucket hat. Chloe Bailey stunned in a powerful and elegant fit, spiced up with tasteful Tiffany & Co. gold jewelry and a simple animal-like gold print Louis Vuitton dress. The established pop star Dua Lipa showed out as the glimmering wonder-girl for the night in bejeweled, skin-showing style by Versace.

The Grammys are always an exciting night of performances, rooting for your favorite performer or album and in my biased opinion, the most exciting, jaw-dropping high fashion.
