1. Football
If we’re being honest, there is no fall without football. Florida State without football is a world I would not want to imagine (no matter how bad this season is). Even though we all hate noon games, there really is just something exciting about decking yourself out in garnet and gold, tailgating with all your friends, and then chopping with the other 41,000 students crammed into the student section on a Saturday.

2. Homecoming
Pow Wow, Warchant, and Football, oh my! Homecoming is one of those weeks at FSU where you are not going to have a spare moment from November 12-18, 2017. Pow Wow, the annual comedy show, is featuring Hannibal Buress with Hasan Minhaj. Warchant, the annual concert, has not announced who is performing yet but last year was Chance the Rapper. The game is against Delaware State which means we might actually have a chance this season.

3. HalloweenÂ
Everyone loves Halloween because when else can you dress up like sexy pregnant Kylie Jenner and no one can judge you for it? Florida State loves Halloween so much, that Talloween is a thing. To prepare for this week of festivities, make sure you have costumes in mind. You don’t have to buy anything; you probably have five costumes in your closet right now, be creative. Flare jeans and a crochet top, you’re a hippie. Big button-down, you and Tom are back in Risky Business.

4. Hiking
I know what you’re thinking, “ugh but why exercise when fall is the perfect time to cuddle up underneath my comforter all day?” but you can sleep all day in the winter when it is actually impossible to get out of bed. Until then, let’s get out of bed, put on our sneakers, and make the effort to enjoy the weather. Providence Canyon State Park is a short road trip away from Tally and the views are totally worth the drive.

5. Stargazing
Last year, I constantly felt like I was watching a Nicholas Sparks’ movie because my roommate and her boyfriend would always go on these perfect stargazing dates. They recommended going to the tiny town of Miccosukee, right outside of Tallahassee, for less light interference so you can actually see hundreds and hundreds of stars. To live out your own rom-com, find someone with a pickup truck, cover the truck with comfy blankets, and lay in the back with your boyfriend (or your best friends!), and have a cozy picnic under the stars.

6. Friendsgiving
Hosting a Friendsgiving is the perfect way to celebrate the season of friendship and fun but it can be stressful trying to plan it all out. Here are some helpful tips: Instead of trying to cook a whole turkey, buy a turkey breast, but don’t skimp on the sides: stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans, and all of the deliciousness your Mom will make you later that week. Hosting Potluck style, where each guest brings a side, will make it easier on your budget as well as let everyone get to bring a piece of their Thanksgiving with them.

7. Shopping
Not only is this the best seasons for sales (hell yeah, Black Friday and Cyber Monday), but fall fashion really just outshines the rest. Between the cute sweaters and even cuter boots, fall is when we can really wear the clothes we love without having to worry about sweating right through them. The weather is also perfect for all the outdoor shopping downtown in Collegetown.

8. Pumpkin Patch
I feel like you can’t have a true fall experience without going to the pumpkin patch. Two of the largest pumpkin patches in Tally are located at churches: Tallahassee Heights United Methodist and Faith Presbyterian. Both venues are equally loaded with natural lighting and beautiful scenery, making it the perfect photo op so you know you will be leaving with a pumpkin to carve and a new profile pic.

9. Farmer’s Market
Another photo opportunity, the Tallahassee Farmer’s Market is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It’s a great place to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables (you know for those days where you realize you need a salad because all you’ve eaten is mac and cheese) while helping out local small businesses.

10. Bonfires
One word: s’mores. I have always loved bonfires since my Girl Scout days and there really is no better way to relive that (minus the smell of burnt hair) than by having a bonfire in the fall. Bonfires and toasting marshmallows are the perfect way to enjoy the chilly weather with all your friends.
