You is a popular psychological thriller based on Caroline Kepnes’ bestselling novel of the same name. The show premiered on Netflix in Dec. 2018 after it aired on Lifetime. You was one of Netflix’s most-watched shows of 2018. The show is about a seemingly normal, yet good-looking bookstore manager named Joe and his relationship with an aspiring author, Beck. Joe is played by the famous Gossip Girl actor Penn Badgley, and Beck is played by the actress Elizabeth Lail. This is not your typical love story where the guy finally wins the girl; there’s a twist. The two first meet in the bookstore and Joe becomes obsessed with her instantly. He decides that he wants to fix all the problems in Beck’s life and make her fall in love with him, but he does this by constantly stalking her and getting rid of her toxic relationships. He believes that Beck is perfect and is just caught in a bad situation. Beck is oblivious to Joe’s obsessive infatuation with her and believes that Joe is exactly what he is pretending to be: the perfect guy. She falls for his trap and starts dating him, and they almost have a perfect relationship. ALMOST.

Joe falsely believes that Beck is the most perfect and pure girl in the world despite obvious warning signs. As they date, Joe starts to notice things about her that he dislikes, and their relationship begins to exit the cupcakes and rainbows phase. Joe finds out that Beck cheated on him, but he still wants to be with her. However, towards the end of the season, Beck finally becomes suspicious of Joe’s actions.

*SPOILER ALERT!*
Sadly, her realizations are too late, and Joe ends up killing her. Joe loved her but feared she would never love him back now that she knew the truth about him. After Beck’s death, Joe’s ex-lover Candance appears. This cliffhanger made fans very curious because the show leads you to believe that she was dead throughout the whole first season. Joe also made up a lie about her traveling to seemingly cover up the fact he killed her, but her appearance shows that there is more to that story. A picture from season two was released, and the photo makes it appear as though Candace might want to get back together or try to reconcile things with Joe.

You season two will release on Dec. 26, making it a perfect holiday gift for fans. Season two will follow Joe’s past relationship with Candace and his newfound love interest, Love Quinn, who will be played by Victoria Pedretti. There has also been an unexpected change in location. Joe left New York and now lives in Los Angles. The season two trailer of You was recently released, and in the trailer Joe goes by a new name, Will.

But instead of turning over a new leaf, Penn says that Joe is even crazier than before. He said in an interview with ETÂ that things will definitely get messy this season. “There are some things I’ve done with prosthetic bodies in this new season that were kind of nauseating as I did them, I will say that.”
I know I’m not the only one who is scared, yet excited for You 2! It is only two weeks away, and I will be in my bed ready to binge.
