Her Campus (HC): What organizations are you involved in here at FSU?
Kylie Rooney (KR): I am the President of the Club Field Hockey Team. I am also a part of the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society.
HC: What’s something you’re passionate about?
KR: I am very passionate about field hockey. A lot of people in Florida have never heard of it, but up North in New Jersey, where I’m from, it’s very popular. In high school I made Varsity my freshman year and I am so happy to be President of the FSU club team this year. I have loved seeing our team grow so much in the past few months. Knowing that I had a big part in that growth makes me feel amazing. I also love finding different volunteer opportunities to participate in. Last year I visited a nursing home and spent time with the residents there.

HC: What’s a hidden talent that you have that not many people know about?
KR: I can ride a unicycle!
HC: Who’s someone you look up to?
KR: I definitely look up to my mom a lot. She is the strongest woman I know and has always been the rock of my family. When I was younger I didn’t understand why she would be so hard on my siblings and I, but now that I’m older I’m so glad that she pushed us to be the best people we could possibly be. Not only is she very successful in her job, she is also extremely selfless and always puts our family over herself.
HC: Describe your perfect date.
KR: I would love to be surprised one day. I’m always busy planning events for field hockey and within my own schedule, so to be surprised with a date that has already been planned out with some fun activities involved, like maybe going to the beach or mini golfing would be so much fun. I’m pretty low maintenance so just something simple like that would make me happy. Oh, also mac and cheese or ice cream has to be involved somehow (preferably both).
HC: What’s your favorite memory that you have made so far here at FSU?
KR: My favorite memory here actually spans over two days. It starts off when I went out to Pots with one of my best friends and my boyfriend one Saturday. We met so many new people that night and just danced and had the best time. Then, the next morning we woke up and we all went out to breakfast together, but ended up getting lost along the way and ended up 40 minutes from campus. By that point we were starving then finally found a Perkins and just decided to eat there. The memory doesn’t sound like the most exciting one, but I’ve never laughed so much in my life.

HC: If you had one million dollars, what would you spend it on?
KR: The first thing that comes to mind is a trampoline! I would also love to travel to Australia and then Italy so I could eat all their pasta. I’d also donate money to help raise funds for education throughout the United States. Â
HC: What’s your favorite place to eat in Tallahassee?
KR: I don’t go out to eat very often, but I went to Monk’s once and their pizza hamburger was delicious.
HC: What’s your favorite bar or club in Tallahassee?
KR: I’m definitely one of those people who loves going to The Strip. I’m not a huge fan of clubs because I’d much rather walk around and socialize than just dance in a crowded place all night. It’s also right next to McDonalds, so it’s hard to beat that.
HC: What song describes you?
KR: “Love Myself” by Hailee Steinfeld.
HC: What’s your favorite TV show right now?
KR: I’m watching Parks and Rec on Netflix right now and I can’t get enough of it. All the characters are hilarious, but I really like what Ron Swanson brings to the show. His dry humor gets me every time.
HC: What’s something that you’re obsessed with?
KR: I’m completely obsessed with Marnie The Dog! Looking at her and her other dog friends on Instagram is so entertaining. She actually just came out with a book and I bought one for me and also had one shipped to my dad as well. He is just as obsessed with her as I am! He described her book as a nonstop laugh festival.
