Her Campus (HC): What are all of your involvements on campus?
Malcolm Robbs (MR): I am a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Band, SGA, Orientation Leader.
(HC): How long did you play in the band before coming to FSU to be a Marching Chief?
(MR): I played in the band for six years before coming to FSU; two years in middle school and all of high school.
(HC): What instrument do you play and why?
(MR): I play the drums, specifically the snare drum. I grew up in the church and that was a very important instrument to the service, so from that I always knew that was the instrument I wanted to play.
(HC): What is the best part of being a Marching Chief?
(MR): I would have to say the best part is playing at the home games. There’s just so much energy and Nole spirit traveling throughout Doak.
(HC): What advice would you give to incoming freshman who want to be a Marching Chiefs?
(MR): Use the experience to change someone’s life.
(HC): What is a favorite memory of yours from being a Marching Chief?
(MR): Connecting with youth and making them believe in their musical ability.
(HC): You said that you are an Orientation Leader (OL), what made you want to be one?
(MR): My OL was my first real friend on campus, she inspired me to be one in hopes I could be a student’s first real friend on campus.
(HC): How long have you been an OL and do you plan on doing it again?
(MR): I’ve been an OL for two years and unfortunately, I won’t be doing it again because they only let you do it for a max of two years. But, I had a great experience from those two years.
(HC): What have you taken away from being an OL?
(MR): I’ve learned that it only takes a small moment to change someone’s life.
