Her Campus (HC): How do you like FSU so far?
Morgan Ollar (MO): I really like it. It’s such a welcoming community and it’s been a lot of fun so far. A lot of work, but a lot of fun.
HC: What are you watching on Netflix right now?
MO: I’m not really watching any TV shows right now, I just finished Orange Is The New Black. I’m watching more movies than shows, but Portlandia and Bob’s Burgers are currently my go-to shows.
HC: What movies have you seen lately?
MO: I saw It Follows at the SLC a few days ago. It was a horror movie and it was absolutely terrifying. I’ve been playing Disney movies while I study like The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Ratatouille.
HC: Disney movies? Is that a studying strategy?
MO: No, it’s more of a procrastination strategy rather than studying, but it’s fun to sing along while studying.
HC: What’s your favorite place on campus?
MO: The William Johnston building. I love the architecture and it’s such a quiet place – it’s a 10/10 place to study.
HC: What do you miss most about being away from home? The least?
MO: It’s either my family or the beach. Both are very near and dear to my heart so it’s hard not being able to see them all the time like I’m used to. I’m looking forward to going home Thanksgiving break and spending quality time with both. As far as the least, I do not miss old people. They are actually everywhere in Sarasota. They are horrible drivers and you can’t escape them.
HC: What are your dreams after college?
MO: Joining the Peace Corps, and if that isn’t right for me then third world teaching in Africa or South America. I think it’d be incredible because it would be such a rewarding experience. I would be able to teach children the importance of education. When you’re young, education is so essential because if you don’t go to school at an early age, you probably won’t get into it later on in your adult years, so that’s why I think it’s so important for children to get an education.
HC: What music artists or albums have you been listening to lately?
MO: Drake and Future’s What A Time To Be Alive has been constantly been on repeat. That, and Tame Impala. They aren’t the two most logical music combinations, but it’s working and it’s beautiful.
HC: Do you have a favorite quote or favorite words to live by?
MO: I just look at a photo of Drake and that’s inspiration enough.
HC: If you could visit one place in the world right now, where would it be?
MO: I’m going to go with Italy. There’s a lot of beautiful architecture and I know the food’s going to be bomb. There’s so much history in one place, it just has to be incredible.
HC: Do you have any strange phobias or fears?
MO: It’s not really a phobia, but I do not like things on my feet. I keep the floor of my dorm very clean because of this. Also, this ones kind of tacky, but I’m also afraid I won’t get to where I want to be. Like, what if I put in all this work and I get to where I thought I wanted to be and then it ends up not being what I wanted? I don’t like thinking about that.
HC: What’s your favorite candle scent?
MO: Anything that smells like vanilla.
HC: What is the best piece of advice you have received about college so far and who was it from?
MO: My grandparents told me, “Your parents are going to put a lot of money into you going to college, so you need to make sure you work hard these next few years, but don’t lock yourself up in the library either.” It’s not even that it’s special, but it was just really nice to have them say that to me before I left.
HC: What’s your favorite late night adventure in Tally thus far?
MO: Over the weekend, we walked to Landis fountain after a night out. One of my friends challenged a random guy who was walking home to swimming laps in the Landis fountain, and it was hilarious. After that, we ran through Landis and realized we went straight through the sprinklers. It was a good time.
