Must-Watch New Movies and TV Shows Coming This Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

It’s a new month, my friends! We all know what that means: there are a heap of new shows and movies coming our way on platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and in theaters. Beyond just the Santa bag of new Christmas features we would expect to be introduced in November, we can also be sure to see highly anticipated pilots, new films, celebrity documentaries and season premiers for multiple series that have been on hold for over a year. Get your popcorn ready!

Netflix

Manifest, Season 4 (Nov. 4)

When Manifest was canceled by NBC in 2021, fans were left devastated and without proper closure. However, on Nov. 4, Netflix is set to release the first 10 episodes of the loaded 20-episode final season of the show. The plot follows a group of people who were assumed dead for years after their plane disappeared, never to be found. After five years, flight 828 mysteriously returns to the sky, leaving the passengers to readjust to their old lives and discover the forces at play.

The Crown, Season 4 (Nov. 9)

This wildly popular series is a fictional account based on the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the entire royal family. There is obviously new pressure for the fifth season after news broke of the Queen’s passing back in September. There were reports that the filming and production went on break out of respect for the late Queen. The cast recalls hearing the news while on set, so this season is sure to be emotional for many.

There is also a conversation around what will actually be depicted this season, as it is set to showcase the 1990s which was known as a difficult time for the royal family. It has not been released if or how the show will describe Princess Diana’s tragic 1997 car crash. The series has received backlash after rumors of production recreating moments leading up to the crash have leaked. So, it is uncertain what exactly will be the major focus of this season.

Wednesday, Series Premiere (Nov. 23)

In case you still aren’t ready to move on from the spooks and thrills of Halloween time, Tim Burton and Netflix are teaming up to bring us this spinoff of The Addams Family, centered around the life of their eldest daughter, Wednesday Addams. Starring critically acclaimed young actress Jenna Ortega, the new series is set to follow Wednesday as she learns to navigate her abilities while attending Nevermore Academy.

Apple TV+

Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me (Nov. 4)

Perhaps one of the most anticipated titles of the month, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, gives fans an inside look into the star’s journey from a young age to where she is today. Many of us feel we have watched Selena grow up as we have watched her in different stages of her acting career since we were young. However, in the documentary, Gomez opens up about her mental and physical health struggles throughout a six-year period of her career that many followers were not even aware of. The documentary lets us come along on her journey to purpose and finding herself despite the many trials and tribulations in her path.

Disney+

The Santa Clauses (Nov. 16)

Yes, you heard that right. Tim Allen is back as Santa Claus, and all the nostalgia is returning as well. This six-episode mini-series acts as the fourth addition to the original 1994 movie The Santa Clause. Scott Calvin is nearing the age of retirement and comes to the realization that he can’t be Santa forever. The comedic and heartfelt series follows his journey of finding a suitable replacement while preparing his family for life south of the pole.

Disenchanted (Nov. 18)

Disney did not come to play this month. Following Enchanted, the original 2007 live-action fantasy we all know and love, Disenchanted continues the story years after happily ever after. Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsy are back for the sequel, which tells the most recent whereabouts of Gisselle, Robert and Morgan as they move away from New York City to a new community. Reality and Andalasia are thrown off balance yet again, and they must learn how to overcome the evils after them.

HBO Max

Love, Lizzo (Nov. 24)

On Nov. 24, the singer/songwriter, rapper and flutist Lizzo can officially add executive director to her list of skills. The self-directed documentary of her life will, according to Lizzo, “tell her story her way.” The film will depict life before fame as well as how the star was able to revolutionize music and body image in entertainment.

Paramount+

Criminal Minds: Evolution, Series Premiere (Nov. 24)

Criminal Minds fans are on the edge of their seats with this one. The long-time show ended its 15-year run in 2020, but the majority of the cast is set to return in this sequel series in late November this year. The plot will focus on the greatest threat to face these FBI profilers yet, an unsub who is using the pandemic to build a network of serial killers.

Theatres

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Nov. 11)

The Marvel Universe is back with another addition to the Wakanda story. Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. There are high expectations for this box office release since the original Black Panther became the highest-grossing superhero film at the time in North America back in 2018.

Overall, there really is something for everyone this month. So as finals season slowly approaches and you find yourself in need of a relaxing night in, get comfortable because you’ve got a lot of binge-watching to do.
