On Oct. 11, it was officially announced that Bunk’d, a series spin-off of the hit television show Jessie, would be renewed for a seventh season. This is the first time in Disney Channel history that a live-action show has had a run length of seven seasons. The kids’ series beat out Raven’s Home which just recently wrapped up its sixth season. This news may come as no surprise considering the show has been a standout over the years amongst children. According to Disney, “A strong ratings performer, Bunk’d continues to rank as one of the top 10 live-action series among kids ages 6-11.” Most shows televised on the network over the years have only been four seasons or less, making this renewal one for the history books.

While the exact premiere of the seventh season is currently unknown, the new season will bring back familiar faces such as Lou, played by Miranda May. She is the only character on the series who has been a regular since season one. May will star alongside Trevor Tordjman as Parker, Israel Johnson as Noah, Mallory James Mahoney as Destiny, Shiloh Verrico as Winnie and Alfred Lewis as Bill, who are all confirmed to reprise their roles. Erin Dunlap is set to rerun as executive producer of the show and May will be directing a few episodes.

The plot of Bunk’d has shifted over the years to become what it is today. The series, originally created as a spin-off of the Disney Channel show Jessie, followed the Ross kids Emma, Zuri and Ravi as they left their New York penthouse to spend a summer at Camp Kikiwaka. The series broadcasted their adventures as they adjusted to the new outdoors environment, all while meeting friends and learning about themselves along the way. Season six of the show centered Lou, Parker, Destiny and Noah as they take control of Kikiwaka Ranch in Wyoming, attempting to revamp the camp so that it is functional for the new summer campers. The plot of the seventh season still remains up in the air, but it is confirmed that the season will remain in the same rural location as the last.

In their article, Deadline interviewed the Executive Vice President of Live-Action and Alternate Series, Charlie Andrews, and he had some gleeful words to say about the show’s renewal. He said, “Bunk’d has been a defining series for Disney Channel, and its loyal fans keep coming back year after year for the laughs, entertainment, and adventure they know and love.” Andrews is excited and hopeful as he continued, “We are looking forward to another season set in the Wild West full of more outrageous stories and hijinks with a stellar cast of characters.”

The seventh installment of the series is speculated to premiere around the summertime of 2023, which would follow the pattern of seasons that precede it. However, nothing will be revealed until filming and production wraps in the coming months. While anticipating the show’s new season, Bunk’d fans can catch up with all six seasons on the streaming services Netflix, FuboTV, and Disney NOW.
