Fall Festivities in Tallahassee You Won’t Want To Miss

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Fall has finally come, and I know everyone is dying to experience the cozy festivities that come with it. In Tallahassee, pickings for these activities can be somewhat slim, so I’ve put together a list of some of the best ones to go to this fall season. Whether you want a chill time around some pumpkins with your friends or a bigger social event, there’s something for everyone.

If you’re going for a more chill night with a couple of friends or even a special someone, this one might be a great choice for you. On Friday, Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Capital City Amphitheater at Cascades Park is having a free Halloween Symphony Spooktacular with songs performed by the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra (TSO). Some of everyone’s favorite classic Halloween songs will be played as well as various other activities. Some of these activities are trick-or-treating and food trucks. While costumes are not required, they are encouraged. Trick-or-treating will start at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 9 p.m. To find out more check out their website here, TSO Symphony Spooktacular.

From pony rides to pumpkins, this next event has it all for some wholesome fall fun. On Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be an abundance of fall activities at Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church. These festivities will include pony rides, a bounce house, balloon sculptures, temporary tattoos, concessions, snow cones and of course, a pumpkin patch. Whether you just want to take some pics for Instagram among the pumpkins or unleash your inner child and indulge in all the fun, it’s definitely one of the top places to go to. One major plus about this place is that it’s also dog friendly, so don’t forget to bring your furry friends! For more info, check it out here

If you’re looking for cozy vibes this week, the Midtown Reader is throwing a Halloween party, even including an open mic night and a costume contest. It’ll be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 30. If you want to get warm and cozy, definitely give it a try and maybe even enter the costume contest!

If you’re down to take a short road trip, there are also two awesome places not too far from Tallahassee.  After a short drive to Monticello, you can experience a two-hour walking ghost tour through various haunted locations. With two separate options for the tour, you can explore an old church, jail and more. You can even take a haunted walk through an old cemetery. Both experiences provide a great haunt in different ways. On the cemetery tour, you’ll hear about some interesting burial facts and storytelling, while on the Haunted History tour you’ll go through the creepy historic district visiting some of their most haunted locations. Tickets are $25 and they have various times and dates for each tour. Click here for more information!

The other experience that is just a short drive away from Tallahassee is the Springhill Farm Octoberfest. Springhill Farm is located in Bainbridge, Georgia and is highly recommended to go enjoy their fall festivities. They have an abundance of activities like axe throwing, a seven-acre maze, bounce houses, pig and rubber duck races, hayrides, pumpkin painting and more. They also have sunflower picking and sell various fall decorating necessities such as pumpkins and cornstalks. This is not only a great opportunity to take amazing photos but is also an opportunity to have so much fun. They have various times and dates going through the weekend and prices vary per activity. My last recommendation isn’t in October, but it’s an event you don’t want to miss. Same as every year, the North Florida Fair will be back from Nov. 3 to Nov. 13. It’ll be 80 years of them running so it’s sure to be filled with food, fun and prizes. Supersaver tickets are on sale now as well as V.I.P. tickets, so it’s a great time to take advantage of those deals. To find tickets and more info, click here

As it starts to get chilly in Tallahassee, it’s the best time to get dressed in your best fall attire, go out and enjoy the wonders of fall. Whether it’s cozying up and listening to some open mic readers or going all out with some axe throwing, none of these fall festivities will disappoint. Have a spooky Halloween weekend!
