Whether it’s your very first date with a new guy, your third Valentine’s Day with your boyfriend, or maybe even a girl’s night out this year, you’ll fall in love with these ideas for a makeup look that is sure to make you stand out from the rest.
Flirty Eyes
For Valentine’s Day, you’re going to want to spice your eye makeup up a notch. Instead of your go-to matte eyeshadows, switch one or two out for some shimmers and glitters. The Covergirl Shimmering Sands trio has three gorgeous shades for a complete look if you want to keep it simple. The Maybelline Sunlit Bronze quad has four buttery and shimmering shades that you’ll love so much that it might just become your staple palette for spring. For more definition and intensity, smudge a dark brown or black shadow along your upper or lower lash line. Don’t forget mascara! Curl your lashes and try Maybelline’s The Rocket mascara or Covergirl’s Flamed Out. Try the waterproof versions of each if you want to ensure your curl will hold all night (though I know it can be a pain to take off)! Tip: to make your lashes stick straight up, turn your wand vertically and pull your lashes gently to avoid clumping.
Glowy cheeks
Using a blush that will highlight your cheeks is perfect for V-day. Try the Maybelline Dream Bouncy blush in “Fresh Pink” and blend in an upward fashion toward the highest point of your cheekbones. For a dewy-finishing powder blush, the Physician’s Formula Happy Booster blushes are sure to make your cheeks pop! Couldn’t you just die at how cute those little hearts are? For extra definition, try contouring with a matte bronzer. Tip: layer a powder blush over a cream blush to set it.
Kissable Lips
Channel the colors of V-day with a red or hot pink lip! The Revlon Kissable Balm Stains are your keys to success if you know you’ll be doing some kissing. Can you imagine if you and your guy both had hot pink lips? For a glossy look, try the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in “Raspberry Pie” or “Red Velvet.” For a more intense color, layer the product onto your top and bottom lip, one at a time. For a lighter color, dab the product sparingly onto your lips and blend across with a clean finger. Tip: to avoid getting product on your teeth anytime after application, stick a clean index finger into your mouth and slide it out. (And get your head out of the gutter!) The excess product should be removed with your finger.
Lastly, pack some gum or breath mints, blotting sheets (if you think them necessary), and a lip balm and you’re ready to go! I hope there is a lot of love and then some for all of you on Valentine’s Day, whether you believe it to be a cheesy, Hallmark holiday or not! XOXO
