Every Halloween celebrities fight to upstage their costumes from the year before, and this year was no different. Halloween of 2022 saw recreations of idols from the past, fictional characters from horror favorites and plenty of iconic duos. Compiled here are some of this year’s memorable costumes.
Kim Kardashian as Mystique
Kim K is known for her extravagant looks and entrances, and she stayed true to her brand this Halloween, showing up to Tracee Ellis Ross’ (non-costume) birthday party dressed as Mystique. The Kardashian shared on her Instagram that it was a light-hearted accident, and the costume was a more appropriate fit for her appearance at Club Love in Los Angeles later that night.
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee
One of the couples’ many duo costumes was a recreation of Pamela and Tommy from 1995 at the Hard Rock Casino. Megan and MGK switched hair colors for the night, with Fox emulating Pam’s iconic blonde hair with a bleached wig and Kelly’s jet-black hair matching Tommy down to the facial stubble.
Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford as a baby and an old man
Eilish posted a picture with Rutherford on her Instagram of the duo dressed up as (what seems to be) a baby and grandpa. Photographed is her in a bonnet and bib, and him in suspenders and a balding wig, as the last picture of the slideshow. There has been frequent controversy over their rumored relationship, so fans believe this was an attempt to poke fun at their age gap. However, it has sparked even more debate, with comments reading “So nobody is seeing the problem with the last slide?” and “It’s a costume, get over yourselves. She’s having fun and it’s a cool f*cking costume.”
Madelaine Petsch, Camila Mendes and Lili Reinhart as the Sanderson Sisters
The Riverdale girls are notorious for their yearly costumes, like their “Powerpuff Girls” outfits in 2020. This Halloween, they embodied the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus (1993). Each one already had the hair color to match the originals so Petsch went as curly ginger Winifred, while Reinhart let down her blonde hair to double Sarah. Camila Mendes was even able to pull off Mary’s tower of curls.
Sabrina Carpenter as Fiona from “A Cinderella Story”
In addition to dressing up as a package delivery worker on her Instagram, Carpenter went on TikTok to blend two scenes from the movie with a trending sound. The bright orange tanning goggles, plumped-out lips and sucked-in botox cheeks brought it all together to mimic evil stepmom Fiona.
Kendall Jenner as a cucumber slice
The Jenners are as notorious as the Kardashians when it comes to Halloween outfits; while previous years have been mostly serious costumes, Kendall poked fun at her viral cucumber mishap. Wearing a literal cucumber slice with a knife in hand, Jenner references her incident earlier in the year, where she cut a cucumber “the wrong way” on The Kardashians. Unlike Billie Eilish’s post, Jenner’s costume received overwhelmingly positive and humorous feedback.
Frankie Jonas and Anna as Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift
Alongside his girlfriend Anna, Frankie Jonas dressed up as his brother Joe Jonas from the Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. In one of the concert clips from the movie, Taylor Swift joins the Jonas brothers on stage to sing “Should’ve Said No.” Seeing as Taylor and Joe were romantically involved at the time, imitating the duo is even more amusing because one of the breakup songs Taylor wrote about Joe went viral recently.
Heidi Klum as a worm
One of the most memorable costumes of 2022 was Heidi Klum’s worm costume. Annually hosting Halloween parties means Klum has concocted an array of iconic and realistic costumes in the past. This year Klum reveals she wanted to do something unexpected and absurd, and requested makeup artist Mike Marino turn her into a worm. Rolling down the carper, Heidi Klum and her husband Tom Kaulitz (dressed as a fisherman) captured much attention.
From cucumbers to worms, this year’s Halloween costumes were realistic and immensely creative. Leave it up to celebrities to keep everyone on their toes for yet another Halloween season.
