Alright ladies, I am writing to you all right now with the extreme pleasure of announcing the long-awaited arrival of the first of many limited edition and summer collections to hit stores this year. For beauty lovers, this time of year is the equivalent to Christmas in the summertime. Well, yeah, maybe that is a bit of a radical comparison. Take a look at what I have to share with you this week and see if anything pleases your pretty eyes.

Revlon has truly outdone themselves this year with what might just be their most stunning collection ever. With a nod to Spider-Man’s love interest, Gwen Stacy (AKA Emma Stone), Revlon’s poster girl, not only are they grabbing the attention of beauty junkies, but they’re also appealing to Stone and Spider-Man’s fan base. This collection includes an array of six gorgeous, shimmery nail polishes and three bold, shiny lip glosses.

The nail polish shades include:

  • Gwen’s Crush, a shimmering fuchsia with purple undertones
  • 1000 Volts, a shimmering gold duo chrome
  • Spidey Sense, a shimmering fire-engine red with berry undertones
  • I’m Electro, a shimmering blue with purple duo chrome
  • Super-Powered, a shimmering dark blue
  • and Electrified Web, a shimmering burnt orange

The lip gloss shades include:

  • Electro-Shock, a bright blue with purple duo chrome (similar to the polish)
  • Sparks Fly, a shimmering ruby red (think T. Swift will pick this up?)
  • and Killer-Watt, a berry with shimmering pink undertones

Couldn’t you just die at the dainty golden web design on the caps!? I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll be sporting a gloss and nail polish to the movie’s premiere, the weekend of May 2, 2014, without a doubt. This collection is now available at local drugstores, and the polishes and glosses retail for $6.49 and $8.49, respectively.

Too Faced Cosmetics has really stepped up their game for this summer’s collection. The Too Faced A La Mode Eyes Sexy St. Tropez Eye Shadow Collection, Bonjour Soleil Summer Bronzing Wardrobe, and Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks are my top three picks from this collection that are worth taking a look at (and obviously buying!). I don’t know who isn’t a sucker for packaging, but the color scheme is like an orgasm to my eyes. These products will be a traveling girl’s go-to summer makeup essential hands down. Let’s take a closer look and examine what exactly comes with each product.

The eye shadow palette shades include:

  • St. Tropez, a beautiful champagne with gold glitter
  • Cannes, a bronzy, sunset orange
  • Soleil, a shimmery brown with purple undertones
  • Riviera, a darker shimmery champagne
  • Jardin, a peachy coral pink
  • CĂ´te d’Azur, a lighter brown with purple undertones
  • La Croisette, a shimmery white and bright highlight
  • Monaco, a fluorescent hot pink accent
  • and De La Mer, a gorgeous and vibrant navy

If you’re like me, and are a bit hesitant to pick up this palette for the hefty price of $36 because you feel you might not use the orange, hot pink, or navy color, which make up a third of the shadows, don’t be. They were all put into a set for a reason, meaning they compliment each other quite well. You can also use the three get-the-look cards that come with the palette to see what you feel most comfortable with!

As for the bronzing palette, it includes:

  • Chocolate Soleil Matte bronzer
  • Sun Bunny natural bronzer
  • Snow Bunny luminous bronzer
  • and a travel-sized kabuki brush for application

These are Too Faced’s most famous shades, all in one compact palette, and for $44, it isn’t too bad of a deal since their regular, full-sized bronzers retail for about $30. With that being said, face palettes are a great way to test out a few products at once instead of buying just one and possibly not liking it.

Lastly, the Liquified Long Wear Lipstick shades include:

  • Melted Nude
  • Melted Coral
  • Melted Peony
  • Melted Fuchsia
  • Melted Ruby
  • and Melted Violet

Now, why “melted,” might you ask? The reason is for the texture: these lipsticks act as a 3-in-1 product, with the smooth consistency of a lipstick, the longwearing power of a lip stain, and the look of a lip gloss. These retail for $21 each. All Too Faced products can be found at Sephora stores, Ulta stores, and select Macy’s stores.

In the case that you’re not a huge Tarte Cosmetics follower, they have been releasing new products faster than a melting popsicle. They’ve recently redone the packaging of their permanent product lines, and have been adding to those items as well! Let’s take a look at their newest collection for summer, specifically the products that I deem worthy of your time.

The Golden Days and Sultry Nights Amazonian Clay Collector’s Shadow palette includes five buttery and pigmented shadows:

  • Toes in the Sand, matte ivory
  • Espadrilles, matte taupe
  • Caipirinha Cocktails, shimmering gold
  • Oceanview, shimmering aqua
  • and Tropical Sunset, shimmering bronze

In addition, there is a rectangular mirror about the size of the palette as well as two get-the-look cards, which coincidently include a “Golden Days” look and a “Sultry Nights” look. Like the Too Faced eye shadow palette, it retails for $36. I know; it’s going to be a tough decision deciding on what palette to get.

The LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Park Ave. Princess is a spin-off of their famous Park Ave. Princess bronzing powder. If you’ve been in the market for a bronze-toned gloss to wear this summer, I’d definitely go with this one. There are also eight additional colors in this new line as well, all retailing for $19.

Finally, Tarte has added a new blush to their Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush line, called “Captivating.” It is described as a warm peach that will just look absolutely fabulous with tanned skin, along with the Too Faced Bonjour Soleil Summer Bronzing wardrobe. These blushes retail for $26 and, along with the other Tarte Cosmetics products, can be found at Sephora and Ulta stores.

Happy beauty splurging, my friends!
