These Beauty Products Got Us Through the Month of October

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Lovers of all things beauty, we are Melizza and Daryn. Melizza is a freshman and Daryn is an (almost irrelevant) senior. We spend our afternoons watching makeup tutorials and scrolling through Instagram to catch up on the newest product releases. If you’re as passionate as we are about a strong highlight and a bold lip, look out for our weekly beauty articles!

October was quite a month, but thankfully Florida State survived. In the midst of all the chaos we managed to distract ourselves with in our new beauty products. We decided to compile a list of our favorite beauty related things of October:

Daryn’s Favorites:

Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy Palette ($42)

Absolutely obsessed with Kylie’s new eye shadow palette. I don’t know if its because burgundy is just a fancy word for garnet or if its because its actually gorgeous, but lmk. They palette is highly pigmented and screams fall. Of course they are already sold out, but hopefully there will be another restock soon of all her new fall products. Don’t even get me started on those new lip kits.

James Charles and CoverGirl

This isn’t a product, but it’s definitely an October 2016 favorite! James Charles is an incredible social media influencer and makeup guru. At the age of only 17, he is CoverGirl’s first ever CoverBoy! It is incredible that CoverGirl is recognizing all the talented men who also love beauty like the rest of us. He is incredibly talented. Check out his YouTube channel or find him on Instagram, @jamescharles!

Make Up Forever HD Translucent Powder ($35)

I am definitely late on this product, but it has been a lifesaver for these humid game days. Typically I just use a setting spray to keep my makeup on, but the humidity has made my makeup look muddy or faded. After applying foundation, I use the translucent powder to set it. This in addition to the spray keeps my skin looking poreless and perfect in the killer Tallahassee heat.

Mac Prep +Prime Highlighter ($27)

Midterms, late nights and hormonal skin have made me desperate for a good priming product. A very kind MAC employee showed me this highlighter. I use the peachy tone to cover the bags under my eyes and continue my makeup routine as usual. This has been a game changer.

Melizza’s Favorites:

Lorac Light Source Illuminating Highlighters ($22)

Courtesy: Lorac Cosmetics

This hightlighting powder comes in four gorgeous shades so there’s one for ever skin tone. My personal favorite is a pinkish-purple shade called Moonlight. They have great color payoff without a ton of fallout.

Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Instant-Perfecting Power Primer ($14)

This mattifying primer is perfect for all of my oily skinned friends out there. Not only does it keep you from looking like a greasy frying pan, but it also has great pore minimizing power.

Urban Decay All-Nighter Foundation ($40)

With an extremely matte formula, this foundation shiuld be your go-to if you plan on stay out all night. It has extremely full coverage and hides any imperfections without being too heavy. Warning: this foundation does oxidize, so it’s best to try it out in store or buy a shade lighter online.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Sepia ($20)

Anastasia makes my all time favorite liquid lipsticks because they don’t dry out my lips and last all day long with one application. Sepia is the perfect cool-toned brown shade that complements lots of different skin tones.

Can’t wait to see what November brings!

I'm currently studying Editing Writing & Media and Public Relations at FSU. When I'm not busy, I love scouting out new restaurants, parks and things to do around Tallahassee. And of course I document it all on Instagram! #DoItForTheGram
