Hey there, Collegiettes! The Her Campus Executive Team is back in action (with some fun new members!) and we are ready to take on the spring semester. From class to work, and everything in between, it can be easy to become stressed and frazzled. Here are some things that we have been loving to help us stay organized, healthy and on top of our game.
Tawnie Simpson: Junior Social Media Director
“My absolute favorite organizational tool for getting back into the swing of spring semester is the WaterMinder app! I find that when I go home for an extended period of time, such as winter break, I tend to fall back into my sluggish habits of never drinking enough water to properly hydrate myself throughout the day. When I came back to school this semester, I found this app to track my hydration and it’s really cool because you enter your height and weight and it tells you exactly how many ounces of water or fluids you should drink each day. As you drink, you log how much and your WaterMinder silhouette slowly but surely fills up with your fluids of the day. Every aspect of it is totally customizable, from the types of fluids that you drink to the amounts that you add. It feels like a game every day to try to beat the amount you drank from the day before and you also just feel so much more energized and ready to take on each day.”

“My organizational must-have for Spring 2018 is Canvas! All of our Florida State classes have switched to Canvas from Blackboard and I absolutely love it! It is way more organized to keep track of grades and specific class assignments. Besides my physical planner, Canvas is the best in-my-pocket and easy way to organize my school work.”

“I love my Plum Paper planner. I customized it so I have a little space for every class & extracurricular I take part in, and I use my colored pens to fill it in. It definitely saves my life every day.”

“When it comes to buckling down and staying organized for a wild semester, I try to keep it fun! I’ve been using ban.do’s stickers religiously, marking down anything from a homework assignment to a girl’s night outing in my planner with one of their vibrant stickers. It makes planning and organizing for the semester much more exciting than just jotting down a few simple to-do notes!”

“The number one thing that gets me through any semester is colored pens! They help organize my planner, class notes and projects. Plus they make everything a little prettier.”

“I’m not one for making new year resolutions (because let’s be real, who can ever keep them?) but I did promise myself I would be making changes this year to keep myself and my life much more organized. The first step toward this is decluttering because I’m awful when it comes to keeping my space clean and neat. So I’ve resolved to keep my desk and nightstand clutter free for as long as possible! And on top of that, I bought an Erin Condren academic planner. It’s super cute, you can customize the quote and cover colors and they have so many design options. I went with typewriter font because I’m a sucker for it, and put my favorite Albus Dumbledore quote on the front. I’m a very visual person, so I color-code. Like, a lot. I like to give the illusion that my life is together when it really isn’t because then it gets me just that much closer to actually having my stuff together. As a result, I’ve filled up my planner with info on projects, quizzes, and exams all the way through April.”

“The beginning of a new semester is always extremely stressful. With new schedules, new teachers and more books to buy, I often find myself overwhelmed. I always come back to school with tons of yummy candles and find them to be super helpful in calming my stress. I’m really into fruity, powerful scents, so this one from Yankee Candle is the best!”

“I have a secret love of making to-do lists. Each semester I buy a new notebook to write lists and goals in and I have come to really love the notebooks by May Designs! They are customizable, which is great, but my favorite part about them is how compact they are! I use the medium size because it’s just big enough to write a sizeable amount of information on a page, but at the same time, it will fit in a purse easily! It’s great when I’m taking it to the grocery store!”

To stay organized this semester, I’ve been using a day planner and a wall calendar from Erin Condren. For me, it helps to have both things because if I don’t want to look in my planner, I can just look up at my wall and all of the information I need is right there. I’ve also been color coding my calendar and planner by class and extracurricular activity so that nothing ever gets lost in the fodder. If anyone’s still trying to make their New Year’s resolution to stay organized work, I highly recommend looking at the Erin Condren site for inspiration.”
