Don’t panic, these make perfect gifts to handout to your hostess on Thanksgiving. If you are strapped for cash and label yourself a DIY kind of girl then you will love these jars. Gifts in a Jar are an entertaining, laidback, budget-conscious way to create gifts for friends, family, and co-workers for really any occasion you can think of.
Cookies in a Jar Gift
Supplies:
– Quart Jar
– Cookie Ingredients (found below)
Directions:
1. Clean your jars and let them dry completely
2. Layer your jars
Layer 1: 1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/s tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Layer 2: 1/2 cup brown sugar
Layer 3: 1/2 cup sugar
Layer 4: 2/3 cup milk chocolate chips
Layer 5: 2/3 cup Reeses Pieces
3. Print out the rest of the directions below and paste to the jar. I recommend printing onto cardstock so the recipe is durable enough for later use.
What you will need:
– ¼ cup butter
– ¼ cup oil
– 1 egg
– ½ tsp. vanilla
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Cream butter, oil, eggs, and vanilla
3. Add contents above to the jar and mix until all combined
4. Spoon onto a greased cookie sheet
5. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes
Mason Jar Sewing Kit
This Gift can be effortlessly personalized by altering the fabric on the lid to the recipient’s favorite colors. Or perhaps by cutting out a stencil of a picture they favor.
Supplies:
– Clean Mason jar
– Any fabric
– Glue Gun
– Stuffing
– Pencil
– Scissors
Directions:
1. Using the lid of the Mason jar, draw a circle onto the fabric about 1 inch wider than the jar lid. Cut out the circle.
2. Place the lid bottom side up placed directly on top of the middle of the fabric, bottom side up. Place a line of hot glue along the red outer rim and start to fold the fabric on top, bunching as you go.
3. Continue in the same manner until only 1/4 of the lid is left.
4. Stuff batting inside the top of the lid until it’s poufy and even. Then seal up the last section of the fabric to the lid.
5. Make a line of glue along the inside of the outer lid piece. Press the pincushion lid inside the outer lid piece and let dry.
6. Now fill the inside of the jar with sewing essentials: pins, string, embroidery thread, zipper, mini scissors, etc. and screw the lid on top.

Lavender Bath Salts
Some “me time” in the tub is a common way for most women to de-stress after a hard week at work or school. So why not treat yourself a little more with these fragrant and easy to make DIY bath salts?
Supplies:
– Epsom salts
– 100% pure lavender essential oil *not fragrance*
– Dried lavender
– Mason jar
Directions:
1. Fill each Mason jar about halfway full of the Epsom salts
2. Add just 10-15 drops of essential oil, replace lid, and shake
3. Remove the lid again, add 1 tablespoon of dried lavender flowers, replace lid and shake
4. Add more Epsom salts to full the jar then replace the lid and shake well
