Three Ways to Spend Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Valentine’s Day: the holiday that everyone loves to hate. Lately, everywhere you look, candy hearts and chocolates are on sale, giant teddy bears loom, and you’re debating whether it would be weird to text that guy from Tinder or not. And it’s right around the corner. The mere idea of the holiday can be stressful enough, let alone trying to figure out how to spend it. If you’re looking for a guide on where to go, what to wear, and what to gift this Valentine’s Day, you aren’t alone. Whether you’re single and loving life, or you have been with bae for years, chances are you’re in the same boat when it comes to looking for something to do this February 14th. Here are three different ways to spend Valentine’s Day here in Tallahassee.

Date Night

Where to go:

If you’re planning on spending February 14th with that special someone, you might as well go all out. Opt for indulgence at The Melting Pot of Tallahassee, where you and your beau can enjoy a four-course, prix fixe menu that includes the option to indulge in dark chocolate Bourbon Pecan fondue.

If you can’t get in on the 14th, The Melting Pot of Tallahassee is offering the special Valentine’s Day fixed menu alongside their regular menu from February 8th through the 22nd.

What to give:

Real talk: what do you give the guy you’ve been seeing for a few months that you met off tinder? Too many gift guides suggest cologne, which is way too boyfriend-y.

Concert tickets or a zip lining outing for two at the Tallahassee Museum are always safe bets.

Out and About

Where to go: If you’re single and ready to mingle, get dressed up to the nines and hit up Tabu nightclub or Recess for a night of drinks and dancing.

What to wear: Stay away from cliché sticky sweet pink dresses with sweetheart necklines. Instead, opt for something red-hot, like this dress from Urban Outfitters, or go the unexpected route and try a romantic romper like this one from Nasty Gal.

What to do: If you’re down to chill with your girl squad, grab your paintbrushes and a bottle of zinfandel and head over to Painting With a Twist, where you and your gal pals can bond while creating a keepsake that you can proudly display in your dorm or apartment.

What to give: Baking a sweet treat for your friends is not only a thoughtful gesture; it’s a great way to stay within your budget! Check out this easy-to-make Valentine’s Day M&M cookie recipe from Sprinkles for Breakfast:
