The definition of a trendsetter would have to be: Lady Gaga. I have long been a fan of Gaga’s style, because she is known for debuting the most absurd pieces in the best way possible. Starting in 2008 with her “Poker Face” blue leotard phase, we have since realized that she isn’t afraid to push fashion boundaries.
One of my favorite early Lady Gaga pieces is the bubble dress she rocked during her tour in 2009. It was so different and nothing like we had ever seen before. From then on out, I think it was safe to say that Gaga is as unique as it gets.
In 2010 at the MTV Video Awards, we witnessed Lady Gaga’s most ridiculously fashionable outfit of them all: a dress made entirely of meat. Many might call this one a fashion disaster. Others, like myself, prefer iconic. Lady Gaga has since said goodbye to her bubble and meat dresses, and taken on a different style entirely and personally, I think it is her best to date.
Gaga’s latest album, Joanne, has brought with it the biggest trend yet and who would’ve ever thought it would be something as simple as a pink cowboy hat. Nonetheless, if anyone can pull it off, it’s Lady Gaga. Joanne represents a completely new version of Gaga, and her new minimally feminine and soft grunge style appears to be the truest and most genuine of them all.
I never thought I would see Lady Gaga dress in something as casual as light wash jeans, a white crop top and hat, but I absolutely love it! We have designer, Gladys Tamez, to thank for this picturesque accessory and for making all of us want to jump on the hat trend this fall season.
