During Black History Month, in celebrating all of the black community’s contributions, consider trying out a black-owned business. There are so many unique black-owned businesses ranging from beauty, health, clothing and so much more. Here are some personal favorites that I recently discovered back in 2021:
Camille Rose
If you are looking for a company that provides all-natural products that make you feel beautiful inside and out, then try the recipe for beauty, Camille Rose. Janelle Stephens the CEO and founder started the company in her kitchen in 2011. By the year 2012, Camille Rose blew up with a large demand for all of the products. Stephen’s mantra behind every product that was created is “whatever is put on your body should be good enough to put in your body.” This mission that Stephens upholds for the brand rings true for all the products that are offered on the website that are made with 100% natural ingredients. These products serve a wide customer base ranging from haircare to skincare to body products. Many major retailers such as Walmart, Target, Whole Foods and Walgreens also carry these products. As Janelle Stephens says, “You can trust Camille Rose to source ingredients with integrity for every batch to be handcrafted with love.”
Muniq
If one of your goals or resolutions for 2022 is to improve your health and wellness, then Muniq could be the perfect company to achieve your goals. The brand’s website states the company goal to be able to “empower individuals to take back their health one shake at a time so that they are able to live vibrantly…” The company offers a large selection of nutritional shakes that contain prebiotic fiber, which is crucial for a healthy gut. The products that are offered are tailored for different needs, such as a shake mix that helps someone with diabetes manage their blood sugar levels. The founder and CEO of the company Marc Washington graduated from Princeton and Harvard Business School and soon found his passion for health. Muniq was created in honor of Washington’s late sister in working to support communities by supporting the health of their guts.
Be Rooted
Journaling has many benefits, such as tracking goal progress, reducing stress and practicing gratitude. Be Rooted is a great company to look at if you are looking to get into journaling or need a new journal. The company was founded by Jasmin Foster, who sought a way to create a space for women of color to see themselves in areas they had not before. This ultimately is the company’s vision, to become that space where women of color are able to love and celebrate themselves. The company creates high-quality journals and planners featuring gorgeous artwork on the covers.
Joe + Monroe | Hoe and Body
Look no further; for all the candle lovers out there searching for a new company that offers vegan candles, Joe + Monroe might be the company for you. The company’s founder and CEO, Joyaa Cole, wanted to turn her candle-making hobby into a lucrative business. The company creates luxuriously scented candles while also ensuring that its products are produced sustainably. The candles are hand-poured with the company’s vegan blend of natural apricot, coconut wax and infusion of essential oils. These candles are toxin-free, paraben-free and phthalate-free. The candles for every scent lover are based on the company’s two main groupings: signature candles and discovery candles.
