what is booktok?

BookTok is a section on TikTok that is dedicated to all things books. This means book reviews, book recommendations, reading vlogs, book hauls, and so much more. Many books became extremely popular because of BookTok. Because of the increasing popularity on many of these books some are overhyped and maybe are not the greatest books for people who just started reading. Here are four books from BookTok that are actually worth it to read.

1. The seven husbands of evelyn hugo

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a phenomenal book that covers topics about love, friendship, and death. The story follows a young girl named Monique Grant. She is a young journalist who one day was asked to write an interview about the famous Hollywood actress Evelyn Hugo. The book is written in an interview style, switching from past to present as Monique is having the interview. In the book you find out about all seven of Evelyns husbands, as well as why she chose Monique to interview her. This book captivated the reader through the beautiful and well done writing. This book is definitely popular for a reason because you become attached to the characters and want to know exactly what happens to them.

2. The invisible Life of addie Larue

The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab is an incredible story following a girls life from 1714 all the way until present day. All Addie ever wanted was to explore the world and she felt as if she was running out of time. Once her parents forced her to get married she realized that this was not the life she wanted to live. She decides to pray to the gods for a miracle. She is then granted a miracle, or maybe a curse that she can live forever. The catch is that no one will remember her. One day she walks into a bookstore in New York and meets Henry, he is the first person who remembers her. throughout the book you discover why Henry remembers her. This book leaves the reader wanting more. The author does a great job developing Addies character so we can really understand what she is thinking. Although this book has a bit of a slower pace than the others, it is still an amazing and inspiring story that will keep you pondering for days after you have read it.

3. November 9

November 9 by Colleen Hoover follows a girl named Fallon and a boy named Ben. They meet one day at a restaurant and instantly become attracted to one another. They decide to spend the day together, unfortunately for Fallon she is moving the next day. Both ben and Fallon come up with an agreement to meet up with each other on November 9th every year. Throughout the book we find out that both Fallon and Ben are keeping secrets from each other that eventually come out and are exposed. This book covers over nine years of their lives because of them only meeting once a year. This book is a fast paced read that has many cliff hangers and plot twists. The romance aspect will captivate you and will leave you wanting to know what is gonna happen to the characters.
