At some point in your life you probably heard, “Old habits die hard.” Nothing could be more true, especially in the life of a college student. That is why it is important to break in some good habits. As a college student, I know first-hand the struggles of the college grind. So here are five helpful tips to assist you on your college journey.  By no means are these the end-all-be-all to college success, but they are a good start.

1.Get Organized!

The most cliché of them all, to find a way to stay organized! A planner can be super useful when it comes to staying on track. Not only can you keep track of assignments, tests, and due dates, but maybe you can even pencil in some time for a date with that cute guy from your math class. *Wink, Wink* Any successful college student will tell you that they get things done by having a way of organizing their time.

2.Go to Class!

It is so important as a college student to attend class when it is scheduled! Unlike high school, some of your classes will only be two days out of the week. Even if you are just really not in the mood, go and just sit. Going and hearing something is better than ditching and hearing nothing! Make the commitment to yourself and your education to go to class.

3.Do Not Look for Love!

Boys, boys, and more boys! College is a sense of new-found freedom, and boy, it is tempting to try and find a cute guy to share this new experience with. This may not apply to everyone, but it is a huge part of college life! Let the boys come to you. Don’t waste time trying to get their attention or obsessing over trying to be in a relationship. Trust me, they will come and you just have to wait till the time is right.

4.Keep Your Goals in Mind!

Know your end goal! Get a bulletin board and put up pictures of your goals; or, get a white board and write out your goals. Remind yourself of what they are! Whether you want to go on to graduate school or get straight into the workforce. Know what you want and know that you can get there! All it takes is a bit of hard work and dedication.

5. Stay Positive!

Don’t let a bad day, a bad grade, or bad relationships, get in the way. You are the sole controller of your own emotions! Smile, take a deep breath, and keep moving forward. Above all else, believe in yourself because at the end of the day, you’re a complete BOSS!

Writing for me is enjoyable because it really allows an individual to express themselves and speak freely. It allows for some quiet time in your own thoughts.
