This week, Her Campus GCU sat down with Senior Jenny Mick to chat about life as a Lope.Â
Jenny is originally from Boise, Idaho, but left the cool north for the desert of Phoenix to pursue a degree in Accounting. Her dream job is to work in Disneyland’s accounting department — Jenny is a big fan of the happiest place on earth!Â
Grand Canyon caught her eye because of the excellent scholarships offered and the Christian values that the university holds important. Jenny upholds these ideals through the example she sets as a leader on campus. She works in GCU’s Learning Lounge as a Learning Advocate, working specifically with students in Business classes. Her favorite part of her job is helping students succeed in classes that they didn’t think they could; giving students the confidence they need to achieve their goals.Â
Jenny’s favorite part of GCU is the comradery on campus between students. She also loves the enthusiasm at sporting events, and is part of the GCU Havocs, cheering loudly at games and encouraging the teams. Catch her in row three in the Arena, singing the fight song and wearing lots of purple!Â
Jenny’s advice to Grand Canyon Freshmen is to do everything you can while you can — it goes by so fast! Go to all the basketball games, Chapels, Gatherings, and meet new people. Those people will become your good friends later on in life!Â
One of the attributes that Jenny admires most in people is the ability to come together for one big purpose as a group of strangers; she loves using teamwork to get the job done! Those who have been on a team with Jenny know this to be true, and respect her ability to work with many different types of people. Jenny makes everyone feel comfortable, encouraging individuals to share ideas, join in on discussion, and help get the job done.Â
We loved chatting with Jenny, and are excited to see what she does one day! Who knows, maybe we’ll come back for an exclusive with her at Disneyland one day! Best of luck Jenny — enjoy the rest of your senior year!Â
