Country Music is the backbone of this great country, ranging from the legends of Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Hank Williams to Carrie Underwood, Morgan Wallen, and new upcomers like Jelly Roll, Zach Bryan, Megan Moroney, and Shaboozey. Country music tells a story and can help one reflect on a certain memory when they hear it. You don’t necessarily have to be from the South or have grown up in the country to listen. Country music helps to shape us and the way we see the world. It talks about the values of family, faith, hard work, falling in and out of love, loving the country you live in, and making core memories with your friends. There is always a country song that resonates with what a person is going through and can help them get through a tough time. For example, “Live Like You are Dying” by Tim Mcgraw is a powerful song of doing everything you are afraid of and can make you feel all the emotions. Country songs can help you celebrate the people around you and make you love and appreciate them more.

“A country song can make you laugh, cry, and heal all at once.”– Tim McGraw

how is country music good for your mind, you might ask? here’s why:

According to (verywellmind.com), music can help improve your mind. When you listen to music, your brain releases dopamine. This hormone helps enhance your mood and promotes a pleasurable mindset. Country music alone keeps evolving from different sounds and people putting their own spin on it. You may not be a fan of the old style of country, but the kind of country out right now is the new era. People are putting their own country spin on their sound and making it a billboard chart hit. Country music is ultimately good for your soul. It can put your feelings into song lyrics and helps you relate to a season of your life. Music in general can help decrease depression, anxiety, and even some neurological conditions. Being able to wind down to some good country music can help one feel a sense of purpose.

A key hormone that can be lowered while listening to music is cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that gets released when you are stressed or have a lot of anxiety. When you listen to music you may feel less stressed and more at ease with whatever task you are doing. Country music has a way of bringing people together and making you feel like you’re a part of its family. It can be a key factor in having fun with your friends and improving your overall mood. It can also improve motivated to do a particular task. Some activities that are good for listening to music include working out, studying, cleaning your house or going for a long drive. This alone helps improve your mind and can inspire you to look at life differently.

I’m ultimately not trying to convince you to listen to country music, I’m just offering a suggestion to consider it. So many artists have dabbled in country music and have made even better music because of it. Post Malone, for example, made his first ever country album. His voice and melodies he brought to the country music world will forever be impactful. Maybe start with the classics such as Dolly Parton and then listen to people like Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood who have paved the way in storytelling. I guarantee once you listen to one country song your world will be turned upside down for the better.
