Why Women Should Vote

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCU chapter.

With the presidential election coming up, we all need to think about voting. But I’m afraid that many of us have forgotten the importance of voting, especially women.A lot of us feel like our voice gets drowned out in the crowd, and that it doesn’t matter, but that’s not the case! Voting is the best ways we can make a difference in the country. Voting is the best, most effective way we can change the country.

What I’ve noticed is that people don’t usually vote if they don’t like any of the candidates. Instead of voting for the lesser of 2 evils, people just won’t vote at all, so naturally, it takes a really great candidate to get people out to vote. When a good candidate is running, the voting turn outs skyrocket and the candidate wins.

Not voting puts our country in danger of having a bad leader. When few people vote, or just men vote, the results don’t represent everyoneā€™s views; only the views of whom voted so we’re stuck with a president we didn’t want and still don’t want, we are just handing the election over instead of fighting for what we want!Whether we realize it or not, when we don’t vote, we are effecting the election just as much as the people who do vote. Instead of looking at voting as a privilege or a freedom that women fought so hard to earn, we look at it as a burden or inconvenience. So lets fight to get the candidate we want, instead of giving up.
