Love is in the air. But whether you have a partner to spend it with or not, romance movies seem to have a place in most people’s hearts when February rolls around. I am one of those people. So, here are my top five movies to watch for Valentine’s Day (not in any particular order).

1) 10 Things i hate about you

This movie has such a special place in my heart. Mostly because of a slight obsession with Heath Ledger, but also because I feel like romance movies need some part where you feel heartbroken and this movie does a really good job with that. Feeling the pain of the main character just to feel like love at the end makes this movie such a heartthrob.

2) The princess bride

All I have to say for this one is “As you wish.”

3) Crazy rich asians

I love this movie. My absolute favorite part of this movie is the wedding scene. I had never even imagined a wedding that fantastical and that scene definitely put a lot of ideas in my head. But, besides that masterpiece of a wedding, I love how there are so many other things happening besides the one couple. The side characters make the movie absolutely hilarious and the movie does a great job representing issues regarding classism which I think makes the movie a little bit more relatable.

4) Runaway Bride

I have rewatched this movie at least ten times. Julia Roberts has made so many classics and I strongly feel like this one is highly underrated. She is THE independent woman and I love it. Commitment can scary so finding someone who understands that fear is so amazing. This movie represents all the girlies with some commitment issues.

5) Someone Great

Every. Single. Time. This movie has me in tears. There has not been a single time when I’ve watched this movie and haven’t bawled my eyes out. I can relate so hard to being in a relationship that was mostly attachment and then having to separate from that person. The growth and self-love that that takes are immense. The emotions the main character has to feel to achieve this are so relatable and definitely helped me along. Even though this is not a super happy movie, the self-love part is what makes this a great romance movie.
