Once the new semester started, I made a promise to myself to change my life by becoming the best version of myself. Since the pandemic hit and I studied at home fully online last semester, my mental and physical health took a hit. After I moved back to campus, I was ready to make a change- become a girl boss, get healthy, build routines and get in touch with spirituality.Â
Although I was ecstatic to start a new chapter of my life, I had no idea where to begin. After further research, I found a few books that have helped me tremendously start changing my life and mindset. Â
“You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” – Jen Sincero
Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite reads. At first, I was reluctant to buy the book due to mixed reviews on Amazon, but I found myself falling in love with the book after reading a few pages. I always find myself rereading chapters whenever I need an extra dose of self-love and motivation.
Basically, Jen Sincero offers insight into how to become the best version of yourself and get rid of negative self-talk. She also dives deeper into the Law of Attraction and spirituality, which I found very interesting as manifesting is such a popular new-age trend.Â
“The Secret” – Rhonda Byrne
If you’re looking to dive deeper into manifestation and the Law of Attraction, this book is perfect for beginners. There is also a documentary!Â
Long story short, the author explains how positive thoughts bring positive things and negative thoughts bring negative things. In other words, the way we think can change our lives and attract positivity.Â
Although I am still on the edge about trying this new-age trend, this read allowed me to better understand the basics of manifestation.Â
“#GirlBoss” – Sophia Amoruso
When I first set out to be the best version of myself, the phrase “girl boss” showed up everywhere. Basically, a girl boss is a confident woman who works towards her personal goals instead of listening to others. Once I found a book relating to this, you know I had to read it immediately.Â
Written by Sophia Amoruso, the book discusses her personal journey to becoming a girl boss and forming her own brand. Additionally, she gives her own tips and tricks to living the successful life you deserve.Â
If you are lacking motivation, I 100% recommend checking out this book.
“The Power of Letting Go” – John Purkiss
This book *hits a little different* than the others. Throughout most of my life, I have always struggled to let go of negative energy and thoughts that disrupt my positivity.Â
In this read, John Purkiss explores how individuals need to “let go” and go with the flow instead of living up to others’ expectations. Whether this be trust issues, fear of the uncertain, or intrusive thoughts, this book discusses the importance of living in the present and how to let go of negative thoughts.Â
If you are on a journey to turn your life around, I highly recommend checking out these books to further explore self-love and positivity. Happy reading, collegiettes!
