Over winter break I was given the opportunity to study abroad in London. Even though I was a little nervous, I think I learned that everyone should study abroad for the experience of a lifetime!

1. Wanderlust is real

I used to think the term ‘wanderlust’ was just a Tumblr fad, but it is definitely a real thing. Once you begin to travel and explore, you become obsessed and it’s a wonderful feeling.Via Giphy

2. Class Credit

Learning about a subject that you’ve study for nearly four years in a brand new environment is a great experience. It gives you a new perspective and excitement for education. What’s better than getting the opportunity to travel and earn class credit?

3. Experience a new culture.

Even though the culture between London and the United States is not vast, the slight differences were enough to make me feel like I was in a whole new world. The accents and the slight grammar changes were so fun to work around.

4. Gain an international network.

When you meet people from a different country that have the same interests as you, you can make connections that will last a lifetime. An international connection, even digital, can catapult your career.

5. Create some of the best memories.

Even though I was a little nervous going across the pond with people I didn’t know, I had the time of my life. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat and do it all over again!

Meet with your advisors and see if studying abroad is a possibility for you! It’s worth it!
