Katelyn Squicciarini spends every waking minute wishing she was back in Italy with the George Mason Study Abroad program. In the meantime, she brightens up the Mason community with her seal-like laugh and stellar personality, avoids making hall decorations for her freshman residents, and makes the occasional bagel at Einstein’s.
Â
Year and Major: Senior with a Communication major and double minor in Psychology and Criminology.
Hometown: Chesapeake, VA
Favorite hideout place at Mason: on the second floor of the JC at the little tables with the comfy chairs.
Past campus involvement: Bagel Queen at Einstein’s.
Current campus involvement: Resident Advisor for my adorable freshmen, member of Phi Alpha Delta, and Sponsorship Chair for the Relay for Life executive committe.e
Most rewarding experience at Mason: Studying abroad in Milan for a month this past summer. I would highly advise anyone to to do whatever it takes to give themselves the experience of studying abroad in a foreign country.
Three things you would ask a fairy godmother for: Another year of college without classes, a scholarship to law school, and an endless supply of parmesan cheese
Three things you couldn’t live without: Parmesan cheese, my friends, and Netflix.
Advice for students looking to get involved on campus: tag along to any activities that your friends are in! That’s part of the reason I got involved with Relay for Life on campus and it has been the best decision I have ever made. I don’t think college would have been the same without it. Also, don’t be afraid to do something out of your comfort zone or that you never thought of doing.
Favorite Harry Potter spell: Evanesco aka the vanishing spell because then I could make all my homework disappear.
If you were a Disney character, who would you be: Cinderella for sure.
Hot coffee or iced coffee: Iced coffee 99% of the time.
Best things about being a Mason Patriot: All of the different opportunities people are offered, the incredible friends that I’ve made, 24 hour Starbucks, and Doc Nix of course.
