In an effort to appreciate myself and my skin, even when it’s not behaving the way I want, I took a picture every day for a week with no makeup and no filters. Social media and modern photographic artistry have turned average people into works of art. And that’s great, but it doesn’t reflect the face in the mirror every day. So here is my take on reality.

My go-to style for a bad hair day is to put it in a braid. This fishtail braid is cute enough to *hopefully* distract from my bad skin day.

Love yourself–and your school! We’re only on week two and I already have bags under my eyes. #CollegeLife

Selfie taking 101: It’s all about the lighting. I look cute in this freezing weather, fingers crossed for no more snow!

Not going to lie, my skin is dry from the weather, as is my hair and I’m breaking out like crazy. But I added some really awesome shades and a fabulous hat, so I look good anyways.

Today my hair looks decent and I’m cozy in a nice sweatshirt. Unfortunately, we got more snow today.

Who could love you more than your dog? My baby is my reason for getting up in the morning, plus she doesn’t care whether or not I’m wearing mascara. I felt pretty comfy, too!

Frizzy hair don’t care. This is probably my favorite selfie because, even with the crazy hair, dry lips and acne on my chin, I still feel beautiful in my own skin, even if my hair and makeup aren’t done.
What I learned from this week is that even when my hair’s a mess, my clothes are sloppy and my skin is breaking out, I am still beautiful and I should still love the way I look and feel. I probably won’t make it onto a cover of a magazine with any of these photos but I love myself and feel awesome and that is what really matters. The same goes for any and all of you, collegiettes.
