Quick Confidence Boosters To Get You Through The Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

You know those days where nothing seems to be going quite right? You wake up with bed head, and then you’re late to class. Then, you have an awkward run in with your ex, and immediately following, you find out that you didn’t do so hot on last week’s test. Ok, so I’m sure no one has had a series of unfortunate events this bad, but we all go through times that make us feel like hiding under the covers and not coming out until next semester. Although the thought of hibernating away our troubles sounds totally possible, we can not hide away from our winter blues, unlike our forest friends. As collegiettes, our lives are pretty busy, so we have to squeeze in time to take a moment, breathe, and know that everything will be alright. Here are five confidence boosters that should help you looking on the bright side of life again!

You’ve Got the Look

Sometimes when conquering the world, a cute pair of shoes may not help you, but at least you’ll look good doing it. When I want to feel like nothing can stop me, I choose an outfit that I feel good in. Find an outfit that will make you want to strut across North Plaza. Also dress for yourself, not for others. If you start living for other people, you just become an unconfident someone else, instead of a confident you.

Music to My Ears

If I’ve had a rough critique in art class or i’m in need of  a confidence boost while going to class, music is always my go to. I listen to songs that relate to whatever mood i’m in and I  instantly feel better. Between you and me, I like to have what I call “personal dance parties” before I head across campus. I put in my headphones and just dance away in my room, however I want. Just like that, I’m ready for my test I have to take, or monologue I have to recite.

Make ’em Laugh

Now, I always knew that laughter could make you feel good, but I’ve also come to the conclusion that it can also make you feel great about yourself. Whether you are watching a hilarious movie, or just having a good time with friends, laughter creates a bubbly energy that could last for hours. If you need a quick mood boosting fix, choose your favorite funny Youtube video–instant laughter with one click!

Get Physical

If laughter is the best medicine, then exercise comes in at a close second place. Anytime that I needed to relieve stress and forget any negative thoughts, I head to the gym.  Just a half hour of running can make me feel great for the rest of the day. Also, there are so many benefits to working out, so just grab your sneakers and get out there. Working out to make you feel good will eventually have you looking great, as well.
