After a couple days of beautiful warm weather here at GMU, everyone has spring fever. It seems I’m the only person who isn’t jumping for joy now that springtime has arrived. I find myself dreading this season more and more every year. If you’re anything like me, these are a few reasons why spring is the literal worst.
1. The allergies are unbearable
I know I’m not the only person who suffers from pollen-related allergies and let me tell you, it makes life a living hell. I basically live off of eye drops, nasal spray and Zyrtec in the spring. Just stepping outside sends my body into a panic with itchy eyes, constant sneezing, runny nose and sore throat. It’s not cute.
2. Bugs are everywhere
Obviously bees are great for our environment and we need to protect them, but that doesn’t mean they’re not annoying. Bees and wasps terrify me, which makes going outside in the spring awful. Can I just sit and enjoy the day in peace without hearing a constant buzzing in my ear?

3. The weather isn’t even nice
If I’m going to suffer through springtime, I at least expect nice weather. But nope, instead, it’s just as cold and miserable as it is in the winter. Most of the time it’s pouring rain and even when the sun is out, it’s still chilly. (April showers bring May flowers?)
4. And lastly… finals season
This is just the icing on top of the cake. Nobody likes finals, but it’s especially hard when you have lost all motivation in class and all you can think about is laying on a beach. The only upside is that you can study outside if the weather allows for it.
There is hope collegiettes, the first day of summer is only 64 days away!
