In this life, nothing comes out of staying in your comfort zone. I repeat, nothing; you have to get out there and experience your life. We only have so much time; why not live it to the fullest? One of my favorite songs by Miguel is titled, “Where’s the Fun in Forever.” In the chorus, there is a repetition of the words, “Tomorrow’s just a day away, tomorrow isn’t promised, where’s the fun in forever? Celebrate!”. This upbeat song is so motivational and inspirational with every listen.Â
Getting out of your comfort zone can benefit your career, friendships and even your love life. Of course, it’s easier said than done, but you should always keep in mind, what’s the worst thing that can happen? You fail, get rejected, get told no in a million other ways? Sadly, that’s life. Your rebuttal to that pain of being told no is what makes life so much sweeter. Just because someone told you “no,” doesn’t mean it’s the end all be all; every one of us on this earth has potential. You learn, you heal, and you come back ten times harder than you did before.
Allowing a simple “no” to stop you from doing what you’re passionate about is insane! Some of our favorites have been turned away from people with a large amount of power to spark their careers. That denial only worked as fuel for them to keep going to reach that “yes” they were looking for.Â
Walking out of your comfort zone doesn’t mean you should start doing things that are significantly out of your comfort zone to where it can become detrimental. Baby steps work just fine. Maybe you’re shy and not that vocal. A simple hello to the next person you make eye contact with could be a start. You have no idea how much a simple hello can make someone’s day. Not to exaggerate, but that hello could take a turn in your life into something beautiful. You hear stories all the time about people enjoying themselves the most when things aren’t planned.Â
Those unplanned nights make the best stories because there are no expectations. Think about that person you never talk to in class with so much potential for a beautiful friendship or possibly more. The options are endless when you’re out of your comfort zone, and it also builds character. As scary as it may sound to leave, it’s even scarier to stay within your comfort zone after a while. Not venturing out and trying new things does not allow you to grow in various aspects of your life. From one introvert to another, please explore the world! Remember, you had to crawl before you started walking! It takes time to build that confidence, but just know you’ve got this even, during your times of doubt!Â
