You know him, you love him, you’ve probably sat in his lap! This week’s Campus Cutie is the beloved founder of Georgetown University – John Carroll.Â
In 1789, John Carroll secured a deed to 60 acres of land that was to become the beginning of the campus we cross every day. In 1808, he was appointed to be the Archbishop of Baltimore. John Carroll created Georgetown with a commitment to the Jesuit ideals that shape each student that attends the university.Â
Though a lot has changed on the Hilltop since 1789, we can still thank John Carroll for founding our university.Â
