After all the alcohol calories consumed on spring break, we all need to get back on the bikini season bandwagon.  Considering it’s already 85 degrees out, it’s only a matter of time before the really confident girls start hitting the lawn in their bathing suits.  Luckily, thanks to Global Warming it is the perfect weather to run outside. Here are some tips to make you the best (and thinnest and hottest) runner you can be.

Trails:
The Burleith Run- 3.2 Miles
This is a nice quick run that keeps you close to campus. It is very uphill for the first half and very downhill for the second half, which may be problematic for some runners. Run up 35th st. and turn left on Reservoir Rd. Follow Reservoir and turn left on Foxhall Rd. There is a nice grassy field before the turn where you can stop and do crunches. Follow Foxhall until you get to Canal Rd, and turn left. Run until you hit 34th St, turn left and head back to campus.

The Monument Run- 4.0 Miles
This trail will make you feel very patriotic. Start out running down O st., turn right on Wisconsin and follow it down to the waterfront. Turn left at the waterfront and run past all of the restaurants toward the boathouse. There is a little trail near the boathouse that will take you to a path that leads you all the way to the National Mall. If you want to challenge yourself, run up and down the stairs or extend your run by going all the way to the Washington Monument. Run back the way you came

The Key Bridge Run- 4.5 Miles
This trail is absolutely beautiful, you literally feel like you are in a jungle. If you need a break from all the hustle of the city, this is a good run for you. Start out running across the right side of the Key Bridge. When you reach the end, cross the street and you will see a beaten path and a ramp. Take that down and follow the path to the Arlington Memorial Bridge. Cross the bridge and run back to campus via the monument trail.

The Canal Run- Endless!
This is by far the best run on campus. There are entries to the canal behind Sweetgreen and Dean and Deluca, or you can run down Wisconsin and turn right on K St, and continue onto the trail. You can either run on the dirt or concrete trail, but beware of hikers and bikers. There are mile markers along the concrete trail if you want to track your progress. A good stopping point is the Fletcher’s Cove Boathouse at the 3-mile mark. The canal goes on forever, so just go for it.
