Fall Fashion: Trends That Will Make You Love Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

Fall is the time of colorful leaves, fuzzy socks, warm cookies and coziness but a new season approaching us also means new fashions trends to satisfy cooler weather. The season of layers, boots, pattern and texture is upon us.

We will soon be leaving behind bright, vibrant colors and exchanging them for various, comfortable shades of greens, greys, browns and oranges, which we are fans of as well. These fall clothing picks and trends will have you ready to embrace the season with open arms. Good-bye, shorts, tanks and bikinis, and hello, sweaters, cardigans and furs.

#1 Velvet

Not only does velvet feel good to the touch, but it is even more physically pleasing to the eye. Velvet tops, pants and dresses are sure to be spotted this fall. The velvet trend is here to stay, and this velvet overall has fall written all over it. (Photo Creds: GS LOVE)

#2 Plaids

If you thought plaid was only for lumberjacks, you thought wrong. Plaid will not escape its fall debut this year and we are happy for it. Plaid has even worked its way up to be a part of runaways during New York Fashion Week 2018. Nothing is cozier than oversized plaid flannels or more sophisticated than a sleek, plaid blazer. The choices are endless. (Photo Cred: Fashionista)

#3 Turtlenecks

You may have dreaded them as a child but now they are irresistible. Nothing says fall more than popping out your favorite turtleneck. Paired with the perfect pant or skirt, you are bound to turn heads. (Photo Cred: Styles Weekly)

#4 Knee-High Boots

Nothing makes a louder statement than a bold knee-high boot. They go great with jeans, tights and even the perfect dress. A pair of knee-high boots can make your basic fit not so basic. Look as fierce as you want in these and anticipate the stares of admiration. (Photo Cred: Fashion Nova)

#5 Cropped Sweaters

Never too hot and never too cold, cropped sweaters are perfect for those in-between moods. It may be one of the biggest contradictions of the century, but we love them. Dress it up or dress it down, the choice is yours. (Photo-Cred: BrightonTheDay)

#6 Blazers

Blazers can be a year-round thing depending on your taste. Contrary to popular belief, they are not only for church, the office or job interviews.  You can have fun with them and wear them as you please. Rock any blazer however you see fit and you will not be disappointed. Anything that can be dressed up or down according to the circumstance is a must have. (Photo cred: flickr)

#7 Denim Jackets

No love is greater than the love for the classic, denim jackets. With so many shades and styles the combinations of fashionable looks are out of this world. Denim jackets have been seen by some in the fashion industry as a spring thing, however we will gladly and proudly enter fall with our broken denims, distressed or not, anyway. I mean, how could you not? (Photo Cred: The Fashion Tag)
