This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

Name: Jacorey Belvin

Age: 21

Classification: Junior

Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, FL

Major: Exercise Science

Dream Job: Strength and Conditioning Coach/ Playing in the NFL

Sign: Aquarius

Relationship Status: Single

Her Campus (HC): What was your first impression of Georgia Southern?

Jacorey: I liked the fact that I felt at home here and that the faculty interacts with their students more. It had more of a family feel than just a campus full of people. I also loved the atmosphere.

HC: What sports/ organizations are you involved in on Campus?

Jacorey: I currently play football here at Georgia Southern. I’m also in “Athletes in Action” which is an organization to help Christian Athletes become better leaders.

HC: What’s your favorite thing about playing football and participating in Athletes in Action?

Jacorey: My favorite thing about playing football is that I’m doing what I love to do and I love the growth process. My favorite thing about Athletes in Action is that I like meeting new people and being around positive people that help me become a better person and vice versa.

HC: What is something that no one knows about you?

Jacorey: Not a lot of people know that I’m Barbadian.

HC: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Jacorey: I love to workout. I also like to shoot pool and play the game.

HC: Who is your favorite artist at the moment and why?

Jacorey: Adele because she sings to my soul. That’s wifey. I don’t have a favorite rapper but if I did, it would be Ice Berg (a Miami rapper).

HC: What are some of your turn-offs/ pet peeves?

Jacorey: I can’t stand a person that lies to my face. I don’t like materialistic people, females who take their pettiness to an extreme, females that jump to conclusions, and people that always have an opinion about everything and think they right.

HC: Describe yourself in 3 words?

Jacorey: Aggressive, loyal, and outgoing

HC: Why do you want to be a strength and conditioning coach or an NFL player?

Jacorey: I want to be an NFL player because that’s always been my dream. I want to be a strength and conditioning coach because I love helping other athletes get better, not only in a physical aspect but also in life. I like pushing them to be great.

HC: What motivates you to do that?

Jacorey: Growing up, there were always hard times, especially dealing with my family. My mother was a single parent raising 6 of us and just watching her sacrifice her last just to make sure that we had, that helped me understand why it is important for me to keep pushing because we always didn’t have the necessary things that we needed. Also, when I got older, I was always overlooked as an athlete and I didn’t understand why it was happening and that always gave me the extra self-motivation to go the extra mile. I also realized that through this journey, I have to go and get it myself and I learned that by doing that you can accomplish anything by effort and determination. Nothing is impossible.

HC: What was the biggest thing that you had to get adjusted to when moving from Florida to Georgia?

Jacorey: One of the biggest things that I had to adjust to was not always having something to do. There’s always something to do in Florida, so moving from a big city to a small college town was hard to get used to. But I’ve grown to like it now because I stay so busy that when I do have free time I mostly just want to chill.

HC: What is something that you want to accomplish before you die?

Jacorey: I just want to be successful.

HC: If you could travel to any place in the world, where would it be and why?

Jacorey: Rio and Puerto Rico because I’ve just always wanted to go there.

HC: Do you have a role model and if so who are they?

Jacorey: The Rock and Ray Lewis because we had similarities growing up in life. We grew up in the same area and they both have made it through with effort and determination.

HC: Who is your celebrity crush?

Jacorey: Adele, Carrie Underwood, and Jennifer Lopez

HC: What would you consider the most substantial moment in your life and why?

Jacorey: Building a relationship with God because without God I’m nothing.
