I had the pleasure of being able to sit in on a Collegiate 100 meeting this past week. Collegiate 100 is a an organization that focuses on enrichment, empowerment, education, and mentorship.
Normally you would  see all the guys on campus in business suits, however this meeting was extremely laid back, with not a single suit in sight. This gave me the opportunity to get the REAL tea.
Â
Hercampus: What made you want to be apart of this organization?
Â
Bryce: I used to see the guys around campus a lot, and they just seemed well respected. They were always doing something positive for the community, and plus my friends were a part of it. I’m really glad I joined this organization because I strengthened those friends and gained a lot of new ones.
Â
HC: What has been your favorite event so far?
  Â
Antonio Simon: My D. I. C is big was definitely one of my favorite events. The acronym stands for distractions in college and it turned out to be a really successful forum. We also had a pool party just to bring everyone together and kick off the new semester and that’s probably my close second.
Â
HC: How do you hope being apart this organization will help with your future endeavors?
  Â
Anderson Johnson: Being around gentlemen like this, everyone in the room are leaders. Honing in on leadership skills to make things happen for the community is one of my strengths that I hope I can take with me after college.
Â
HC: What are a few things you all do as an organization that contributes to our college community as well as the statesboro community?
Â
Taj Red: Everything we do in this organization is for the community; car washes, fresh fruit sales… all proceeds go to the community. We also support the Morris Heights community with our mentorship of being mentors in that community to help them grow. On Georgia Southern’s campus we make it our duty to host multiple forums. We’ve hosted forums on relationships, finance, and school related issues.
HC: Anything coming up that you want the people to know about?
Brenten Wicher: We have our big comedy show coming up in November! Wild’n Out will be a play on the actual show produced by Nick Cannon. It’s going to be super excited because it hasn’t been done on a college campus yet.
