This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

The Boiling Shrimp

The Boiling Shrimp is a southern seafood restaurant with a variety of foods, ranging from shrimp, crabs, clams, crawfish, and more. Below are some of the reviews from local Statesboro residents.

“Pleasantly Suprised”

“We stopped this time after passing by many times before. we were glad we stopped, the food was good and fresh and the price range was very reasonable. The shrimp were very good and the fish (swai) was also good.”

“Really Good”

“We were just passing through the area with our camper and the lady at the campground recommended it. I’m glad she did. I had the shrimp boil, with the “whole nine yards” sauce, and medium spicy.”

“Love”

“I absolutely love this place we always get a country boil and it’s always good! The hush puppies are good too! It’s clean and the staff is always nice!”

El Rinconcito

El Rinconcito is known for it’s authentic Mexican style food. Below are some reviews from Statesboro customers.

“Excellent food with an authentic flavor, we really enjoyed what we tried. We especially liked the chips and salsa bar, with something for everyone. The steak tacos were good and the steak enchilada was even better. Next time, and there will be a next time, I want to try the enchiladas Verde and who knows what else.”

“Authentic food fare at the right price. Friendly staff and decent location to access from roadways. Recommend running to this border for whom the bell tolls!”

“We enjoyed a wonderful Mexican dinner here. The food and service are first class, good value for the money and the make your own chips and salsa bar is a plus!!!”

“Reminded me of the small mom and pop Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles. Really Good! Carne Azada Rocked! Will come again for sure.”

Sugar Magnolia Bakery

Resturant-Bakery-Food & Grocery. Below are a few reviews from customers here in Statesboro.

“It is a very nice atmosphere and a family owned bakery. My personal favorite is a cheese Danish at breakfast with a cup of coffee. But don’t worry if you don’t make it in for breakfast because their turkey sandwich is delicious. To top it all off the service is great and their prices are more than reasonable.”

“I really enjoy eating at Sugar Magnolia Barkery. The food and, especially the homemade lemonade/limeade are fantastic. I also love the fresh bread cooked each day.”

“Very cute place in the center of town. The food was good they should just give more for the price. My husband got eggplant with mozzarella one skinny slice of eggplant and one slice of cheese for 7.99”

    Vandy’s BBQ

“Yes, I came upon this unassuming building while trying to decide where to eat lunch. I agree I was a little hesitant as well when I saw the outside of the building but I thought why not go inside and see. Happy regular customers were inside, talking to the business owner.”

“Passing through Statesboro from Augusta to Savannah and need some BBQ. Glad we stopped at Vandy’s. I enjoyed the BBQ plate that consisted of a nice portion of shredded pork, a bean and sauce mix and some great coleslaw. Also came with two slices of white bread for the sauce.”

“This is a place you don´t want to miss. Not fancy at all but excellent BBQ. Do try their homemade sauce. Strong and tasty.”

    Coconut Thai Cuisine

A basic eatery, serving traditional Thai noodle dishes, fried rice, selections and red or green curries.

“A favorite of mine for intimate and casual. The chef is inspired and freshness counts. The flavors are spot on and the portions are generous. If you have questions, the staff are quick to answer and meet customer needs. “

“5-star food and service. We went for lunch and the chef came out to ask how my husband preferred to have his special order dish prepared,”

“Everything about this restaurant is great! Although it doesn’t look like much from the outside, it is decorated beautifully on the inside and would be great for any type of meeting or get together. The service was great, our server Alice was very informative and fulfilled out orders correctly and quickly.”
