The weather is getting colder, the leaves are turning orange and yellow, and fall is in the air everywhere you look. While it may seem like the perfect time to cuddle in bed with a good book and a cup of coffee, it is essential to remember to keep a workout regime during these months. If you are getting tired of your standard gym class, the fall is the perfect time to explore new options.

1.       Run a 5K

Many charities host annual 5Ks during the fall due to great weather conditions. If you need help training for a 5K, follow the couch to 5K plan! Be sure to choose a 5K that in support of a cause that you hold dearly and you will have all the motivation you need.

2.       Utilize Local Trails

Most cities and towns have a few trails where you can go running, hiking, biking, or walking, that are safer than using the main roads. Often these trails are free to use, so there is nothing stopping you. It is easy to go for a quick walk during your lunch break, or an afternoon run in the fall because the weather is cool all day long.

3.       Bring Out Your Inner Child

One of my personal favorite things to do in the fall is visit parks and pretend I am a child again. Between swinging and running around, you get a workout without even realizing it! Find your local park, and take off! It is best to go at hours of the day when there are not many children around though.

4.       Change up Your Gym Routine

Maybe you are tired of going to Zumba every day. Why not try a new class at the gym? Hot Yoga is a perfect option on the cooler days. You could try swimming laps in the pool rather than cycling. The possibilities are endless at the gym. Check the group fitness schedule to see what is offered.
