10 Signs I Had Simultaneously The Best and Worst Thanksgiving in History

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Not all Thanksgiving breaks are filled with endless joy.

1.  I got to cook everything (except the turkey) and got to practice making my favorite foods.

2.  …but barely anybody ate it because everyone was too busy crying or yelling to even eat their dinner.

3.  My grandmother, who lives in the next state, stayed with us the whole weekend, so I got to see her for the first time in years.

4.  … but she was horrified the whole time, hearing the c-word (no, not “cookies”) used more times over one dinner than she probably has in her entire life.

5.  My sisters, who have been fighting over some guy for two years, finally, at least superficially, made up.

6.  … but, in doing so, had a 2 hour screaming-and-crying fight in the backyard in view and in earshot of all our neighbors.

7.  I was back in my hometown, where everything and everyone is familiar!

8.  …but I was always too busy, too lazy, or too tired to see my friends even once.

9.  I got to see my sisters again, catch up with them, and hear about their busy lives.

10.  … but only for a little while, because by 2pm Thanksgiving day they were all too drunk to function.
