Those that know me well know that I love basketball. When I say I love basketball, what I really mean is I love watching it. I did play from 5th grade until 11th grade, but I was never very good. I really enjoyed it and made such great friends while playing, but it was never something I was going to pursue (I also wasn’t good enough to pursue it, haha). However, I think through being introduced to the sport in 5th grade, my love for it really developed.
This could be an unpopular opinion, but I mostly follow professional basketball. I enjoy other levels but I spend the most time watching and following professional basketball games and teams. There is something about the sport that just gets me excited and interested. I will watch other sports, but nothing fascinates me or makes me as excited as basketball does. It is definitely my favorite. I love following along during the regular season but I also really enjoy the playoffs.
Yes, some people hate professional basketball and think it isn’t as fun to watch as college and I understand. However, I love to watch it. But, that does not mean I do not get excited for college basketball too. I will be honest and say that my brothers are much more knowledgeable when it comes to college basketball but I still get very excited during March Madness.
March Madness is a very exciting time and this year I am feeling especially pumped up. Every year, my whole immediate family fills out brackets (I do too) and then we enter our picks into an app that tracks which ones we get correct and which ones we get wrong and then we see who gets the most right and that person is the winner. Because March Madness has only just begun and there is already so much exciting news about it, I have decided to start a small article series about March Madness that will only happen for as long as the tournament goes on. In the articles for the series, I will be writing about my favorite parts of March Madness, the team’s I picked for each bracket (Men’s and Women’s) and why I picked them, how I do in the family competition, and I will recap some of the biggest upsets. So, if you’re a semi-secret basketball fan like me, or if you are not sure what March Madness is, be on the look out for some fun articles going forward!
