The sun is shining. The birds are chirping. The weather is warming. And the tour buses are rolling in.
Now that it’s both warm and the acceptance letters have gone out, prospective students are arriving in hordes to scope out their possible future school. And while we want to be welcoming and show them how much we love our school, sometimes we also just want to walk to class without being stared at like we’re some alien creatures.
Adding to the number of non-students wandering about campus, in Gettysburg, we have tour buses of children visiting the battlefields rolling in as well.
Here are some of the things that may be running through college students’ heads when tour season rolls around:
Walking out of your dorm in the morning to find people everywhere.
How the prospective students dressed up for interviews look.
Watching the tour groups make their way around campus.
That one poor prospie who broke off from the herd and is hopelessly lost.
Wondering why they would turn down your offer for directions when they clearly need it.
Opening your dorm room door to find a tour group crowded in the hall.
Waiting in line for Servo. It doesn’t seem that complicated to us seasoned pros.
Being generally overwhelmed by the number of people on campus who don’t know what’s happening.
Nevertheless, we love welcoming prospective students to campus!
